Sold the 2004 SV650S

Picked up a new 2007 ZZR600

I traded FI and low-end grunt for a better suspension and high-end acceleration (read: 'let the road-tripping begin!).  The bike is remarkably similar in power, weight and handling to my 2001 R6 from back in the day.  I'm really looking forward to getting some miles on the clock this spring.

I took delivery last week, but the bike has been garaged up in PA while I worked in DC this week.  Going to truck it down here on Sunday and get busy tearing up DC!

In case you hadn't guessed, I'll be selling some blue motorcycle gear in the near future if anyone is interested.  Particularly the JoeRocket Blaster 3.0 jacket in the first pic (size 44).  Its only one season old, and I'll throw in the well-used Teknic violator gloves, too (size L).  Feel free to make me an offer, anybody.

The ZZR is a real nice bike for the money. I have been thinking of getting one myself, as many dealers are discounting them.
Any idea how expensive the insurance is?

Thats the funny part.  State Farms' actuarial tables for bikes only go by displacement, so I actually pay LESS for the ZZR (99hp at 599cc) than I did for the SV (65 hp at 650 cc)!!!  :cookoo:

I have an auto policy with state farm and the bike is $250/year comprehensive with a 500 deductible

Thats an '04 with the fairing installed aftermarket.  up until this year (08) the SV650S came only with the top 1/4 fairing.  The 'new' SV650S you are seeing is probably a leftover 2007.

The first thing I did when I bought that bike back in '04 was order the factory lowers and install them.  it really makes the bike look complete, IMO

Foremost is the same way.  I got a quote on a Duc M620 and it was more than for my Gixxer :cookoo:

OK, need to brag one more time.  All the new gear came in.  Setup boots (Oxtar's cheap-o line).  JR Blaster 3.0 Jacket (clearance from NewEnough.com, damn, I love that store).  Teknic Chicane gloves.  And a new Shoei TZ-R lid.  Only the Joe Rocket Ballistic pants remain from the original set up (oddly enough, they are the one piece of gear I have ever owned that I would NOT recommend) to a friend.

Now I have everything I need but the spring weather  :thumb:

I finally got out to put a serious dent in the break-in miles today.   I definitely got what I wanted most... a better suspension than the SV.   :)  Ergos are similar, but the seat is fantastically comfortable by comparison.  It takes a while for those tires to wear in, too.  I have locked the rear up twice already breaking in traffic.  Be sure to go easy for the first few hundred miles on new rubber, kids.

I underestimated what a beeeeeyotch the break in can be with a 600SS.  At least the SV650 would do about 60 mph at break in RPMs.  The ZZR will only do 50mph at the manufacturer's recommended break-in RPMs in 6th gear!  I was getting passed by little old ladies on I-295 today!

:o :o  Dude, 50mph in 6th on my Gixxer is like 4k rpms...... what the hell kinda rev limit do you have on break in.   I don't know what I would do without being able to slip into power band :cookoo:  Nice gear and bike, a guy here just bought one used and it seems pretty respectable all around.

Awesome bike VT.  I love the wheels.

If you ever get back to SC or if 144 starts calling your name let me know.  I'm ready to rip.  :)

Where did you pick up the breath guard that you're wearing over your nose? I've been looking for one for my TZ-R as well, with no luck.

I wish I had a good answer for you, buddy.  but guess what?  that's actually a neoprene ski mask that i use for winter riding.  Its not a breath guard at all :-(  If you are still interested, it does work very well to keep condensation down on the visor on cold days, won't compress your helmet lining much (if at all), and they are available at almost any sporting goods store or ski shop.  They are AWESOME when combined with a neck gaiter for winter riding... gets me an extra 10 F worth of riding comfort
