OK, so i just put on a new DID o ring chain with the clip style link. It was still a pain in the but to the master link on ( i actually broke a 4" c clamp  ) but i got it on correctly.

As requested:

Now, of course the chain comes greased from the manufacture

but when will i need to lube it next? when should i check the slack next?

THANKS!

new chain, check slack after EVERY ride for a couple hundred miles.  Then just drop down to routine maintenance.  Grease it at liesure...every few hundred miles is always a good routine.

might wanna wipe off the excess also, so it doesn't pickup too much grit.

:) congrats on a new chain

that looks like my set of 4" c clamps. CHINA on the side, kinda a green/gray powder coat finish. i've managed to bend one of mine when i used it for a stop on a lathe. didn't think they'd ever break. apparently, they will !

i've also got a 6" and a 12" KantTWIST clamp, those things are freaking crazy tough !

Another  :thumb: for Kant Twist.

Although, I probably have a couple hundred pounds of Chinese cast iron C-clamps for the pattern shop.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

I'm baffled, are you using those c-clamps to press on the side plate or to pean over the pins like on a rivet type link?   :dunno_white:  I've used a bunch of the DID O-ring chains with the clip type master links on my GS's and pressed the side plates on with pliers until the last one.  Couldn't get it on easily and wondered if they were making them with a heavier press fit or if I was just getting old.  Anyway I got out one of these (pic below)  2" aluminum c-clamps and a small socket and pressed it right on.  Put the socket around the pin against the side plate and applied the clamp to the socket and pressed around  the pins alternately untill the plate was in place.  Just took a minute or two and nothing bent or broke.   :thumb:

yup gsjack, i did just what you did except my clamp didnt hold up too well. It might have been bent already, o well. maybe 4" was too big for the job. WHATEVER new chain and sprocket make the bike run even better!
