Ok I found a new small oil leak, this one is is around the 10 mil cap nut on on the left side of the cylinder head. The cap nut is the one adjacent to the spark plug. I have offically had it with this bike. Never again will I buy used from a dealer  Anyway I assume I'll have to pull the cylinder head cover and replace that seal and replace the washers under the cap nuts. :dunno_white: OK I am going for my lottery ticket  :thumb:so I can buy another bike and just take my time fixing this one.

depends how much your time is worth.
you have to decide how much time you want to spend now and in the future potentially tracking down small problems.
some bikes you fix a few little things and it runs like a champ for 50k.  other bikes just seem to be problem bikes.
how many problems have you fixed on it so far?

Yeah you are totally right other then the routine brake fluid replacement, oil changes, cable lubing, chain maintenance. I got ripped off having a crankcase oil leak fixed right side fixed, then I developed a leak around the strator cover got that fixed too.  I have pulled the carbs and cleaned the jets. At one point I had to pull the air box and clean out some oil in there, I used Marvels Mystery oil in my fuel and it leaked out of the carbs into the air box. I have just had the bike for 8 months. Other then the small leak my idle takes forever to warm up. It is a great bike I just didnt realize Id have so much to do. OK I am getting jealous of all those folks out riding and having a great time, when I am wrenching.

incorrect float levels will cause gas to dump out the carbs.

If its just around the cap nut, you can take the torque off all the head nuts that hold the head on, remove the one cap nut and washer and replace the copper washer. Then re-torque as per the manual. Requires the tank to be removed, remove the valve cover, and purchasing a good quality torque wrench. Your supposed to retorque the head every so many miles anyway.
