hey guys i am just wondering if this bike will have enough power to make me happy, yes i know its only a 500 but i cant get another super sport. but i want something i can still stunt. haha girlfriend wont let me get another SS. last bike i had was a 05' 600F4i and i used to stunt it. i will probally take all the fairings off and streetfighter like i did with my F4i. let me know how she gets up and also if the brakes are good enough to stoppie. i know you guys dont condone it cuz they are not a "superbike" and most of you are more mild mannered

philward

If you want to stunt it you will definitely need to change sprockets.

If you're not new to the GS then the best place to look at first for modifications is the wiki. :thumb:

This thread here is all about the 14t front sprocket upgrade and people's experience with it.

Oh, and welcome!

You could try a busa............. it isn't actually a supersport, tis but a lowly sport cruiser.

Ya, stoppies aren't gonna happen on a 2 pot single disc front end........end of f%$king story.

Wheelies, ehh if you got skill.  Given that you stunted an F4i I'm gonna say you probably went with the 'in-crowd' and changed the sprockets on it for a better ratio thus never learning how to effectively control a wheelie..........

Ya wanna stunt and not have an SS?? get a DRZ.....those fuckers will wheelie and stoppie all day long if you got any skill.

imchrislara

so no stoppies unless i went with a front brake swap eh? i was the only one of my buddies who got an F4i and stuntted it. i could reach balance point with no problems and ride for long periods of time no problem. but i just want something fun and practical. any suggestions on the front brake swap? busa is out of the question girlfriend knows what they are haha. we watch a lot of vids and go ride with alot of my friends

galahs

mate just carry a length of 4x2 and stick it in your wheel spokes and enjoy the stoppies!

I think if you fitted some stainless steel lines and some HH pads you should be able to pull a stoppie especially if you have the stock springs in place.

Jarrett

Honestly, you can do anything you want on a GS.  Stoppie, wheelie, whatever you want.  just depends on if you've got the skill.  You're stunting the bike, the bike isn't stunting with you along for the ride.

Now is the GS the best platform for stunting?  Absolutely not!  Get an SV650 or 650R if "yo gurl" wont let you get a SS.

Ask this dude : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KJ9QV14b5I   he seems to know how to stunt a GS with a 46 tooth rear sprocket

but you know it's only a 500  ;)

Edit: by looking at the vid you should conclude that the "it's only 500" was said with sarcasm, 'cause the bike is as good as it's rider   :icon_razz:

Problem with the GS is the oil sump.Keep the front or rear up to long and get aBIG BOOM.The oil runs away from the oil pick up,running the engine dry. Then you get engine lock up.Not good with the front wheel 4 feet in the air.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

at first i thought the thread starter was just trolling. but he's seriously going to take a gs that's in really good shape, low milage, pay good money for it, and then trash it for a few wheelies/stoppies ? ouch.

ok dude, it's your business, but you really should consider buying one of the million + barely runnin rashed bikes that's allready lost it's fairings to an idiot. save you a ton of cash, and parts are already falling off your buddies stunt machines ;) so you can just pick them up and fix yours !

if / when you start getting the wheel up on your 'new' gs, make sure your tats show up good in the pictures , and don't skimp on the flip flops aight ?  :thumb:

if you look really close, you can see the gs in it's proper environment @ the stunt show:

which would be, -not- stunting, but waiting for the fun ride home -from- the stuntin ;)

If you insist on a GS, you'd be happiest with one that was a track toy.........preferably that already has a twin disc front end.
One of the 650's would serve you well, they tend to be pretty torquey so it would definitely do what you want    and the 650r kinda has wave rotors up front............
I still say get a 'tard...............

I seem to remember seeing a 52 in a catalog....... :cookoo:

15t front and a 45t rear and you can have some fun.

btw my GS500 sais SUPERSPORT on the grips  which to my knowledge came stock :)

and I can still make U-turns ;)

btw if you buy a gs and want a 45t rear I have one you can buy brand new !

jesus this thread should just be locked. To properly stunt a gs500 you will spend more time and labor then its worth. There is so much dive in stock forks that you are asking for headshake as soon as you get into a proper stoppie.
riders formely known as IMPORTBABE

I don't see why it should be locked - just because you don't agree with his end use.

And it may well be true that it's all too much effort and expense, but isn't that the point of this thread - to find out information like that?  :dunno_white:

I've visited far too many forums where threadlocking occurs with daily regularity, along with the baying for blood from the regular posters - absence of this behaviour something that really attracts me to these forums.  :thumb:
