I don't see why it should be locked - just because you don't agree with his end use.

And it may well be true that it's all too much effort and expense, but isn't that the point of this thread - to find out information like that?  :dunno_white:

I've visited far too many forums where threadlocking occurs with daily regularity, along with the baying for blood from the regular posters - absence of this behaviour something that really attracts me to these forums.  :thumb:

well I didnt mean it in a real negative way. Im just saying after the money and time spent, it would just be better to go with an older honda F3 or even F2 for stunt. What does the GS really offer anyone in the stunt world besides a big challenge to make it worth it. I mean you can technically make a GS500 as fast as a stock Hayabusa (with a lot of money) but is it worth the time and money? W

jesus this thread should just be locked. To properly stunt a gs500 you will spend more time and labor then its worth. There is so much dive in stock forks that you are asking for headshake as soon as you get into a proper stoppie.

Why do people race Nascars when they can race F1?

To be different, budget constraints, for the challenge or my favourite answer "because they can"

Each to their own I say.  :thumb:

this was kind of interesting. basicly destroying a decent gs for the sake of a burnout saddens me, but it's not my place to decide how folks spend their money. i'd rather see a gs get used for teaching someone the basic joys of motorcycling, throttle control, and braking technique. then on to touring, and really seeing just how fantastic a fuel efficient world motorcycling offers.

given the fantastic pictures i've seen of folks using their motorcycle to acquire breathtaking shots of beautiful vistas, it's no shock to realize the gs is a great platform for exploring. now, one user comes along and wants to explore a different avenue, and i'm changing my opinion now. go on, stunt it out if you like, use the information here, and contribute with what you find.

there are some reasons why other machines make better platforms to start with. using a road king for a trials bike would be, well, difficult, but with enough effort and saws-all work, it's possible. why not push a little and see what happens. your stunt buds might cackle about your efforts, but that just means they're not doing anything constructive while they're cackling ;)

i have no desire myself to stunt my little gs. it's too efficient and simple for me to want to muck it up. then there's the family reasons, wanting to be around and all. i'm quite amazed by the amount of control (and sometimes dumb luck) that stunters exhibit with the throttle, balance and brakes. the few i've seen have a good understanding of how things work, and do their own wrenching for obvious reasons. watching a guy change swing arms, wheels and tires in a few minutes in the back of a van is pretty neat.

post your successes and failures here. post your legal pictures, on closed courses, and you'll likely not catch much flack. post stuff of people in traffic endangering other drivers/riders, and wear your flame retardant under-roos.

well ? what's the hold up ? get on with it already !

you could look at it this way, why do people spend money on honda's to go fast or any eco. car for that matter.   there are plenty of people that stunt the little GS . sometimes the open road is not such an enjoyment for everyone.

if you do get the GS and start your project, keep us updated
