I assure you the Black Monster with the red stripe will be HOT.  You are obligated to post pics when you take delivery

Now you just need to decide which pipes you're getting for it

Thanks guys! The wait is going to be difficult, but pretty soon the roads are going to be covered in salt and sand anyway. Spring is going to be great! I was thinking about exhausts, but I bet there will be a better selection if I wait awhile- since it is sort of a new model and all.

  I got it today!

I don't know how to post pictures, but I put some in a scrapbook. They aren't great pictures because it's dark and cloudy out today. The link is:

First impression:
It is beautiful!

Second impression:
It's snowing out and I wish spring would come.

Third impression:
Looking at numbers, my Monster seems to have pretty much the same amount of power as the SV650, which I've seen people reccommend as a first bike over and over again. There is a world of difference between this bike and the GS500. I'm glad I started out on the GS500, and I realize that I still have a lot to learn from it, so I'm keeping it. I probably shouldn't have moved up yet, but I don't really care. I'll be careful! The Monster is really smooth, and it is easy to go fast on it. The GS never surprises me. At one point on the Monster I looked down and I was going quite a bit faster than I would have guessed. It feels solid and planted and smooth. I like the riding position. You are still fairly upright, but it feels more aggressive than the GS. It sounds awesome. I think the GS is a better around town bike. Riding the Monster around town with traffic requires more clutch work. The bike doesn't go really slow very easily. But maybe that's just because I'm not used to it yet. It's kind of like learning how to ride again.

Hopefully the weather will improve soon, so I can take it out in the country. I think it will be awesome out there. I think I'm going to love this bike. I only took it for a short ride today, and it put a grin on my face. It's a fun bike.

First, Ed gets a new Sportster (envy envy) then Laura gets a Ducati (envy envy)...and wouldn't you know it, those are two of my most adored two-wheeled machines. Enjoy, enjoy. Shoot, I'm just lookin' at goin' an' gettin' a new S40. Love the little bike and the forum.
