I have a couple small dings in my tank and i was wondering what the best way to repair that is, if any?  Thanks.

Body filler, stud welder and slide hamer, small finish nails welded to the center of the dent and use a slide hammer to pull them back out.Cut the bottom of the tank out and use a body hammer and dolly, then weld the bottom back in.Flush the tank with running water for 10 minutes before cutting or welding.make sure to remove the fuel cap and tank mounted petcock.

Say I have no access to a welder and have never welded anything in my life for that matter...and want to buy a replacement.  Will only tanks off an '04 work?  I know a brand new one is like 500 bucks but if I can scrounge around for a tank off an old gs and only spend a couple hundred that would be great.  Thanks.

Any tank will work, but I'd stick with the bigger tank 2001+.You could probably recoup some money by selling your tank.Racers always look for beat up tanks.

You have several options and it all boils down to money and how much of it you want to spend. You can try one of those mobile car bodywork dent removal specialists who work out of a van. You can do some research and have a go at filling and repainting it yourself if you have the resources and feel competent enough to tackle it.  You can get a quote from a professional auto-bodyshop or you can source a replacement used tank in your colour
