I'm looking to get a givi top rack, and I was checking them out on twistedthrottle. They have the ones for the 89-92 and the 97-00. They list the 93-96 as discontinued and not in stock. Question is, I have a 93. Is there a reason that either the rack for the 89-92 or 97-00 won't fit?

I don't see why it wouldn't fit. Especially with the '89-'92. Maybe we could get a link?

Here's the TwistedThrottle link:

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productlist/101/

And the Givi USA link, as you can see the 97-00 is the only one still made for the older E models:

I have no idea what the difference is in the 3 older E model Givi racks or whether the 97-00 could be fit to the older E models.

I mounted my case to a Suzuki rack which has been discontinued also, it needed some extra bracing to support the Givi case.

I don't really care for the Givi racks anyway, if I needed a rack for a Givi case on a 01 or later GS or GS-F model I'd go with the SWMotec rack listed on the TwistedThrottle link.  For an older model I'd just make a simple rack to hold the Givi case like the one I sketched a while back:

I made a rack for my 97 GS that carried only soft luggage for most of the 80k miles I rode that bike:

And my current 02 GS with the Suzuki rack I had to brace:

407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Anyone know for sure if the 89-92 top rack wouldn't fit? I also thought about just making a rack myself, but I'd like to keep my back seat free.
