I think Maks idea would look WAY better than some cheap a$$ driving lights  :thumb:

I'm watching that honda light.  It's only $15 so far but it's got a day and a half.  I've seen just the projector light portion from BMW's on Ebay too, I'm keeping an eye on those.

I did some more cleaning and thinking about what I want to do with lights, then I took her out for a spin around the plantation.  I love having a super-flickable bike again, she practically begged to attack every little curve as fast as possible.  I'm still in shock at how smooth power delivery is on this beast.  It's like nothing the Japs could even dream about.   Ohhh yeah, rev-limiter at 9k, found that out the fun way.

GeeP...if for runing a HID low beam with the cougar projector, a power supply will be provided with a HIT kit.  The Projector is designed for a typical 9006 Halogen bulb and could be run with just standard 12vdc from the wirnig harness.

Keep in mind that with most real DOT approved projectors you are looking at will be open housings and will need to have that fixed.  It's not difficult to do.  When I was running them on my TLS I built housings for the projectors I used two 4" PVC caps and fused them together over the projector casing.  I had holes cut in both sides of the caps, one so the lense was exposed and the other so that the bulb could be changed.  I then sealed the hell out of it with silicone.  If done right it's fairly neat and effective.  I used 4" U-bolts to hold the cases to a peice of stainless angle iron, that bolted the forward subframe.

as far as the driving l;ights...they are not DOT approved and thus you can get into shaZam! at expection time, and they will not offer you a safe field of vision.

Inspection I'm not worried about, it doesn't exist here.  a Good view would be nice.  So, the projector set-ups ripped out of Audi and Bimmer headlights should do the trick fine right??

might i ask why not just re-install the stock light assembly?  :dunno_white:

Terry, If I were you, I'd buy those lights before someone else does (like me).  The seller isn't sure of what he's selling.  Those will be either HELLA, Valeo, or Bosch projectors and all are superb quality setups.  They will, however, be focused entirely as a low beam, but you can run a standard HID setup with both and have so much light at your fingertips that a high beam would be nothing but an extra bell and whistle.

jserio, I could answer your question, but the fact that you've asked means you simply wouldn't understand. :)

Those bad boys are mine!!!!!!
Just paid.  I can't wait for em to get here so I can get to work.  I guess I could spend some time wiring up the tail light seeing as I have the one I'm gonna use :icon_rolleyes:

jserio

ah, mak don't assume i won't understand your answer just because i've asked the question. i wouldn't have asked if i didn't really want an answer. besides, the answer may actually be a simple one, something i'm just not seeing at the moment.  :thumb:

The biggest reason to use a custom light as opposed to a stocker is cool factor.  There's a lot of cool factor in it.

jserio

ah, yes. the cool factor. something unique.  :thumb:

Yes, the cool factor.  Isn't that a lot of what having a Duc is about?
Also, replacing the stock headlight would require fabrication as the First owner had the fairing stay trimmed down.  As long as I'm going to have to fabricate things I might as well go for something unique and more efficient than the OEM.

jserio

that makes sense. hope it turns out nicely.  :thumb:

You know it!!!

I'm aiming for getting it done next weekend. I'm trying to only do things when I have plenty of time, I don't want to rush things as I want them to be done in an aesthetically pleasing manner and correctly.

The weather is here, it's time to get this little beast on the road.

yamahonkawazuki

just remember to aim them properly. as to not blind oncoming drivers/riders :thumb:

Yeah I need to add that mine could not be aimed.  Some thought will have to be given that.
