Hey everyone,
I have a 1999 GS 500e,at 8200 miles, looks like they ran gas with sand My sliders in the carbs are bad and the walls of carbs, I've been looking at E-Bay no luck yet. If anyone has some carbs, I will be greatful. and pay shipping & parts, handling.
I got 3-4 Months to get my Fingers better!! Don't clean the chain with a old rag & your hand! I was spinning the back tire with one hand & spraying WD-40 with the
rag  the rag got cought in the chain pulled my fingers in the sprocket :nono: Blood is not a good oil for a chain!! So it's been 3 weeks ! In the ER the Doc said
looks bad! But I can sow on anything :icon_lol:? He was a war Vet in num, & has put back on allot of parts!!.

I'm trying to put my Bike together with one hand & 3 good fingers, I have time on my hand
I've put new gas lines & filter on, new jet kit for the F1s muffler, new air filter, So the only way to fix the scratch up carbs is replace them. Thanks [p51] Austin TX..

Hey   Seahadri_Srinath Thanks,
I would like the hole carbs  :). My diaphragms had holes, the caps are burned on the Engine side :dunno_white: Came with F1s muffler, and the Tech said he worked
very long to get the jets right, and right now the carbs are off the bike! I took them off the same day I got my Fingers chop-chop :icon_lol:. I'm not sure of anything-
on this Bike :icon_confused: It's what you get from a dealer,I do know- got new tires,Back breaks new, a tank rust kit done, all new gas lines & vaccum line, new break line on-
front, new grips, new levers, new air filter, new plastic sides, some new paint on tank top & clear coat, cheep job. Now as for the topside of the Carbs there in bad sheap. the carbs are good on the bottom side, On the needles they look stock so if newer ones will make it run better OK.
anyway Srinath what year are the carbs? and  condition ? & price & +shipping
And Thanks for your help :). and look to hear from you. good to get help from this web site
Thanks, Mustang.
[PS] will putting a pair  of unl set of air filters help, pre one guy at the suzuki shop, they run about 22.00 bucks? what do you think? or am I opening a can of worms! with rejetting?

There are some parts missing from this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=330218845643

No one will bid on it, so you could probably have it for just over $50 shipped.

p51mustang

Hey Chuck,

Yes I looked at them good parts for an 04-05.I just called the suz shop and shawn said no go, for a 1999 :dunno_white:. He said 99's are not easy to find and to get a hole
complate set.new set's can go for $550.00 WOW. And if the set of 05's if they had all the parts would run $1100.00 . AS they say if you buy your Bike a part at a time!-
would be $$.$$$.$$WOW :cookoo:.  I even ask Shawn in I got the gs1000 carbs and split them if that would work :icon_lol: well after on hold for a few min's, came back on
and said I have too much time on my hands. to do that would take allot of rework,  :cookoo: So well it is hard work to do nothing all Day" just wating on my hand to heal!!

Thanks anyway
Mustang.

Chuck

There are 5 complete carburetors on ebay right now.  The cheapest is $125, the most expensive is $190.  The 2004+ have some extra junk you don't need, but you can cap off the vacuum lines forget about it.

p51mustang

Hey chuck.
I'm hoping to here from Srinath about some parts for my carbs  The suzuki shop said the 05 carbs will not work on a 99! you said to plug the vaccum lines?
Have you done this? It would be very good to put the 04-05 carbs on my 1999 . Shawn at suzuki said would not work :icon_confused:.
Thanks Ron.

Chuck

The carbs are different, but they should fit just fine, the boots are the same size.  The 2001+ bikes have a dual throttle cable setup, but the spring return is still in the carb, so you can use the single cable throttle.  There's a throttle position sensor and some vacuum hoses that I believe the ignition control module uses for ignition timing, but none of that is necessary on a 99.  I'm not sure if the pre-2001 air box will fit, but everyone throws that out for a lunchbox filter anyway.

So the answer is, no I haven't done it, but it will work.  Ask me again in a few months and maybe I'll have a better answer.  I have a 2006 carburetor that I've jetted for E85, just to see if it works. :)

As far as I know, the three circuit carbs (2001+) are superior.  I haven't heard anyone complain about a midrange dead spot on these bikes.  I have a 2001 mildly rejetted and it hauls about as much ass as a GS500 can haul.

p51mustang

Hey chuck, sounds good But i'm not that good at modifying a bike, so I'll wate and see how someone like you do's it,Thanks for the info, Ihave two shops that I'm talking to,
about this. So I'm looking at the other ones on e-Bay :)
Thanks Chuck.
