Parting out a 2004 F model

I am considering parting out my 2004 GS since I now have a brand new used SV650. I could fix it up and sell it instead, but I probably wouldn't ride it and I dont know how much time and energy I want to put into buying new parts and doing this.

Basically the front headlamp, forks, and plastics are toast, but everything else (excluding levers and right hand mirror) is in good shape. Frame straight. The engine has 20k but is rock steady, minus the emblem cover on the left hand. It was oilchanged, valve checked, etc. Newer chain, rear sprocket, brand new Yuasa battery, tires still good, etc. Rear plastics are good, they are yellow.

Any advice or opinions on this appreciated. Has anyone done this before?

I might go ahead and post everything in the parts forum here before I go to ebay and become a power seller. Havent sold on ebay a whole lot before.

What is your zip code, or the zip code where your GS is located? If you're within a reasonable distance, I'd like to buy the entire motorcycle, but that INCLUDES the carbs, the gauges, and everything else, along with the damaged parts...

Let me know the zip code; as long as you're within a few hundred miles, I'll haul it away in my truck this week. I'm having surgery soon, and I'll need a project to keep me busy while I recover.

If you've already agreed to sell parts to ohgood, best of luck to both of you... I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles...

ohgood

we don't have an agreement yet, if you're close, go for it. it makes better money sense for both of you if you can haul it off. if not, i'm still interested. :)

Vultures!

Just kidding.

I was kind of looking forward to parting it out. But yes it is a salvage title due to prior front end/fairing damage. I'm located on the east side of Hollywood.

Give me just a couple days, I am fixing on my SV right now and I will get back to you guys soon.

OK, waiting on a price estimate for the entire corpse, and some good photos...

Ill take the mirrors and the middle connecting piece for the tail section.

Ok Ive decided I will part it out rather than sell it whole. This will be its Tibetan sky burial. I will take it to a hilltop away from society, take it apart in pieces, photograph each one with a broken heart and sell it on ebay.

This is not the buy/sell part of the forum and Im not trying to sell parts already but here are some pictures just for kicks.

Just to be clear, I will probably do this on Ebay, without any sense of urgency. So pls dont take it personal if I turn down X offer for X part, or dont get back to you. basically I am curious about the flea market value and experience. Otay.

Yes, i have one on my 90. The older seat won't fit as well but it will work. I just recently installed that tail and seat on my bike with the help and know how of the all powerful Ken.  O0

If the exhaust wasn't damaged, I'd be interested in it for my race bike build.
