I finally start seeing some more motorcycles on the road around where I work:

Some colleagues of mine and I were walking down the street to the deli for lunch yesterday.  As my riding always leads to motorcycle related stories, a loquacious friend of mine was telling us about his girlfriend's brother-in-law's motorcycle when mid-sentence he stopped as some show-off on a sportbike came around the corner and pops a wheelie for about 50ft past us and then takes off down the road.  This is lunch time on fairly busy thoroghfare...lots of cars/people to watch, I suppose.  Another friend turns to me, "he was showing off for you, you know." I reply, "then he wasted a wheelie."   We agreed it was a nice wheelie, but a non-rider would probably have been more impressed, and plus show-offs have never done it for me.

With that said, riding home I came up on two motorcyclists--one gixxer, the other could have been the wheelie kid from earlier, but that's how unimpressed I was, I guess--can't even remember.  Anyway, I pull up next to them, we exchange nods.  I can't say whether or not they realized I was a chick or not.  Either way, all three of us make this left turn (there are three left turn lanes), and they proceed to weave in and out of traffic just to end up in front of the car in front of me--the gixxer with his blinker still on.  I started to giggle...I wanted to come up next to him, flip of my visor, look like i was going to tell him how hot that was...but then tell him to turn off his signal--but I don't like weaving in high volume rush hour--plus, I've only been riding for a month.5.  It took him another light to turn off the blinker...and then as they burn out of site, I see him riding away with his right signal on...and on....yep, still on........ Way to draw attention to yourself!

Ah, fun days on motorcycles in metropolitan areas.....not as good as squids totalling bikes or outrunning cops, but it makes me smile nonetheless.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.

Telling him that his blinker is still on in front of his freinds and others: priceless

I would hve done it too...bonehead. So are those riders like the ones I'm seeing-short sleeve shirt/tshirt, sneakers, slacks or jeans, FF helmet, gloves (why bother?)?

Boneheads.

Just going slightly off topic...how about those guys who wear the hooded swearshirts? And my fave is the guy who wears a leather jacket, but no gloves. It's too hot!? What's the first thing you do when you fall? You put your hands out to break your fall! I was told by an old biker, before the helmet law, always wear your gloves, you can protect your head with your hands. I don't know about anybody else, but my hands are the most important appendages to me, because I use them to write, type, draw, masturbate...pretty important stuff that we take for granted, y'know, I mean our hands...WE TAKE OUR HANDS FOR GRANTED!

I was at a powerboat race this weekend and was sharing space with a couple of 30 something year old Harley guys. Talk about a motley crew. The most obnoxious of the bunch had an ass length pony tail flipped to the front of his shoulder - god forbid he cover the WCC logo on his $38 tank top. I presume he was wearing the tank top so everyone could see the road rash covering his left arm and flank.

One of his buddies had suffered an obvious severe leg break, as his lower right leg was about as thick as my wrist at the widest part of his calf. I can only speculate it was a motorcycle accident, but judging the the empty bud cans stashed in the cooler next to the bikes, I figure it won't be long before he breaks the other one.

Acoustimate, you shouldn't have told him about the turn signal being left on.  You should have reached over and cancelled it for him yourself.  Talk about humiliating.

Or if you have time at a red light, get off your bike, lift your visor so he sees its a female, walk over to his bike, and then cancel his signal.

Oh how sweet would that have been...I would have been laughing for ages!

Incidentally...they were both wearing suitable jackets for riding, so I guess I shouldn't rag on them too much...

Yeah, i agree. Wheelies are fun, especially on a bike with the power to do so. I have ridden dirtbikes for years, and i wheelie when no one is looking, because its fun. A lot of people go over the speed limit on here, and a lot of people lanesplit and accelerate quickly. Its ok. Thats a personal choice each rider must make. Im not sure why you tried to make a guy who does a wheelie sound like a squid. Especially if he has on the proper gear. Its nice to have the POWER once in a while to do a real wheelie as well.

Now, if he was doing it purely to show off.. thats because your a girl.. and ill give you the benefit of the doubt as resident man-whore and assume your cute in the first place  .

But either way, those two other guys sound like they need to lay the bike down to learn a lesson... hopefully not a bad one. My blinker indicator doesnt work, and i still remember to turn off the signal. Maybe he needs to change his blinker fluid :thumb:

To me, the squid comment was because he was in high traffic at lunch time.  A wheelie in the proper area is a joy to see, but not downtown with people crossing the street going to lunch.

um, i read that to read that the two blinker guys were wearing appropriate gear, not necessarily wheelie boy. but even if he was, pulling a wheelie in traffic in the city automatically qualifies you to be a squid. big difference between that and doing it in the dirt.
