Ok so I finally got around to upload some pics.  Nothing spectacular, just some pics out front in the driveway just before pulling the valve cover off.  :thumb:

So I got the cam tower back from The Buddha.   Installed it and torqued the valve cover down (it's a new valve cover gasket from when I discovered the cam tower was busted).  The bike still seems off, I think rich on the idle mixture and lean on the jets?  It surges at cruising speed.  Seems to pick up and cut out unless accelerating.  And the idle stick sometimes when coming to a stop.   I'm new to all this but I was reading the wiki and it seems to fit the lean category at cruising speed

- The engine won't respond when the throttle is snapped open, but it picks up speed as the throttle is closed. (A too-large main jet also mimics this symptom.)
- The engine surges or hunts when cruising at part-throttle.
- Popping or spitting through the carb occurs when the throttle is opened. Or popping and spitting occurs through the pipe on deceleration with a closed throttle.

but at idle seems to be rich

- The engine's idle is rough or lumpy, and the engine won't return to idle without "blipping" the throttle.
- The throttle needs to be open continuously to maintain acceleration.
