with low miles (<2000) and in good condition.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with the GS over the SV for some summer fun.  The GS should be able to get me up to 70mph for a 5-10 mile stretch, other than that I'll be tooling around town.  Insurance will be a ton cheaper for me as well.

Anyway...

I've found a couple of 2004 GS500F with low miles.  What would be a good price to get these at?   $3100 seals the deal for sure but maybe I'll offer $2700 and go from there?

mint condition, I'd pay no more than $2700.  offer $2500 and go from there.  You can get low mileage older GS's for around 2k.  Fairings are great, but they aren't worth an extra 1k.

If you're not set on fairings, go back a few years.  Basically, the bike hasn't changed since it's conception in '89.  I bought a 94 that ran great for 800.  Then I spent easily twice that modding it.  I miss that little turd.  All the cool mods now are ridiculously expensive.
