How big are the stock carbs?

Just curious because I bought a carb rebuild kit thats labeled for a GS500 and non of the O-rings match up to what came out of the carbs. I measured the exit of the carbs, between the butterfly valve and engine i guess, and I came up with 33mm. Is that the stock size of the carbs or are these frankensteined off a different bike?

Anyway, attached is a pic of the old vs new O-rings. All the new stuff is on top, old stuff underneath. The new idle screw o-ring is large enough to slide over the spring, the emultion tube o-ring is about half the size it needs to be, and the o-ring that goes on top of the carbs by the slides seems to thick to allow the black plastic cover to seal completely around the carb. The new needle seat came with the o-ring installed and is the only thing that seems to be right. It's Keyster Part #48-1947, oldbikebarn.com part # 177259. The bike is a 91. The kit is advertised as for a GS500E/GSX1100G rebuild kit.

the float bowl gasket looks ok. (you already know that) You should be able to use the vacuum o-ringd. I'm guessing it will just seal a little better and not cause problems.

Hope you didn't pay more than $4-5 for the kit since nothing fits. Someone else just had a rant about oldbikebarn a while back. Same kit, iirc. (if i recall correctly)

I took a chance on some o-rings from lowes, put them in a gas can around a pencil and they didn't fall apart yet, must be ok material.

The 2 circuit carbs thru 2000 were 33 mm and the 3 circuit carbs for 01 and later are 34 mm.

Thanks for the clarification on that, gsJack; I wasn't sure about the size of the newer carbs...

Thanks guys. I wrote oldbikebarn an email, so we'll see if they say anything besides, "O sorry we sent you the wrong thing, thanks for the money". I'll just go to the hardware store today and pick up some o-rings that area closer fit and hope they don't leak.
