01 gs500 stunt bike---SV integrated tail light, renthal bars, 13 up sprocket, engine cage, no plastics except for fender, dented in tank w/grip tape, 12 o'clock bar, enduro headlight, lots of spray paint, too many zip ties and maybe some tape here and there.

I took off the left side crankcase cover (Stator side) to give me a little extra wiggle room, and a rolling floor jack to hoist it into place. Wear steel toe shoes though...that motor is precarious on a jack.

there should be a thread with the 'mattress method' or something like that. i can't find it.

lay the bike over on a mattress, drop the motor in, or is it motor down, lower the bike over ? hell i dunno, haven't done it myself.

good luck !

if it doesn't fit right start banging it with a hammer until it fits.

If the hammer doesn't work just weld it to the frame wherever you can get it to touch.

Don't listen to these jokers.  It's simply impossible to place the engine in a GS500.  The only way to get the engine in is to cut the frame in half and weld it back together around the engine.

If you don't have TIG capability, bubble gum will work fine.  I recommend Bubbleicious, Wrigley's has too much body and not enough stiction.   8)

But don't forget to mount it upside down so the heads get plenty of oil

Does everyone else have an old mattress laying around or do you use the one out of your bedroom?????

Personally I lower the frame over the motor.
Common sense in not very common.

That welding didn't even work in my bike, I have to carry it in my lap as I am riding  :thumb: ...
BTW, the GR motor was easier to stuff in the GS frame than the GS motor. possibly cos the GR is smaller front to back overall, and also side to side where the rear mounts go. Of course I had lopped off the mountsin front and that helped too.
Cool.
