I am in desperate need of some carbs...the threads ripped on the caps so now I can't get a tight seal.  Machine shop guy said he might be able to re thread them but since the hole is so small it is not very likely.  There are a couple carbs on ebay for around 200 but I really didn't want to spend that much unless I have to..thought i'd check on here first.  Thanks!

An option you might want to consider, which could save you time, money, and aggravation:

Buy a product called "Form-A-Thread" (sold by the Loctite / Permatex folks), which is designed to solve this exact type of problem. Here's a couple of links, so you can get an idea of what it is you're looking for:

I've personally never used Form-A-Thread, but I know two guys who have, and they claim it works as stated. It ISN'T designed for ultra-high-stress applications, but I think the stuff would be just about PERFECT for your needs. Those screws don't require a LOT of pressure, so "Form-A-Thread" could do the trick. I've seen it at many of the larger automotive and hardware stores, so you shouldn't have ANY problems finding it, and obviously, Google is your friend if you don't know where to look locally for the stuff...

Hopefully, that will work for you, and get you back on the road...

Post any questions you might have before you begin, and remember to let us know how this turns out, OK?

Good luck; chances are, you'll have this fixed fairly soon, and be back on the road not long afterwards.

Yea still haven't heard back from the machine shop...called today and guy said he would work on it this afternoon but never got a call.  Really wanted to bring my bike back to school but had to leave it at my fiances house so hopefully i will have an update this weekend when i go back up there.
