Looking to buy 150 mains, 40 pilots. I've searched but can't seem to find out where to buy the jets.
My set-up will be full supertrapp exhaust and k&n lunchbox. Any help would be great.

Read this ENTIRE thread; looks like you CAN find a better deal than motorcyclecarbs.com. As Teek noted, he got a good deal from Bikebandit, so it is worth looking into... more where-to-buy information here:

http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/Rejetting

You might find an even better deal than bikebandit.com from ronayers.com, or mrcycles.com; IIRC, MRCycles is in North Carolina, so you could get cheaper shipping, but you'll have to check around.

This is the # 40 pilot jet as shown at motorcyclecarbs.com:

http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/MIKUNI_PILOT_JET_N151_067_40_P2614.cfm

This is the # 150 main jet:

http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/MIKUNI_MAIN_JET_N100_604_150_P2313.cfm

Again, you should be able to find a better price, so do some research, and good luck.

GSnoober, you keep on helping me out, thanks a lot. I've got a use for all 4 jets as I bought another GS tonight. 2001 with 3000 miles on it. It will be a nice compliment to my 99 and the '78 gs400. So far I have noticed several improvements on the newer model but it still needs to be jetted.

2001 has 3 jets not 2 like the older ones.Just throwing that out in case you were unaware.

Contact Buddha for jets.He is cheap and ships fast.

Thanks, so the 2001 has the mains, pilots, and some other jet as well? Do I replace all three or just two?

You should find all of the information you need in this thread:

http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=40368.0

I contributed to it, but please read ALL of it; Teek has extra jets (mains, mid-mains, and pilots); if you need the same sizes he bought, you could buy his extras and save some cash. If he isn't ready to sell them yet, you still have plenty of options, so shop around, and ask Srinath (the Buddha), because he might have what you need ready for sale.

Ask any questions you have BEFORE you order jets; the mid-mains and mains are the same MODEL, but not the same SIZE. Once you have them in your hand, you'll know which is the main, and which is the mid-main.

Thanks, I sent a message over to Teek so We'll see what he says. So it looks like for a 2001 I need
22.5 pilots, 65 mid mains, and 147.5 mains.

You might as well send a PM to Srinath, in case Teek isn't willing to sell his extra jets just yet. Of course, Srinath could also advise you on which jets you need, depending on the particular details of your '01 GS (stock air filter, aftermarket air filter, K & N lunchbox, K &N pods, etc.), and the exhaust system you're using. The Buddha knows all... or most of it, anyway.

YOU have no reason to be embarrassed, beRto, I'M the ignorant one here. But hey, thanks for the information; I've taught several women to ride, and the more the merrier, especially if they're leathered-up punker chicks, or even if they're not...  :)

Even better, Teek paid attention to her performance, and that of the others in the class, and I think that probably indicates that she takes motorcycling seriously, which is outstanding from my perspective.

All due apologies for the confusion to pjm204, and to Teek...

I messaged both Teek and Buddha, so we'll see what I hear back from them

Teek

I messaged you back, I certainly don't need 4 of each, so I offered you a split right down the middle.  ;)

Thanks beRto for revealing my XX genes!   ;)    It's in my profile guys, it's OK. I usually figure everyone is a guy too.

There are a number of smart women on this board, and the guys here are good 'uns, and I just turned 51 so I've heard every kind of guy talk and stuff, and so I love this forum and the people on it are cool.

I have a family with motor oil running in their veins; many have been in the auto business, have raced cars and motorcycles, and collected them. I used to work on my trucks back when they all had carbs, so I am having fun learning about this moto and modding it. My hubby likes to tell everyone that when he met me, I had a bigger toolbox, more and better tools, a big ol' truck, guns, knives and I still have a couple of the 9mms, the shotgun and my tattoos, but the truck is gone.     I have bigger biceps too and it's muscle not fat, he's just a scrawny guy who never worked out.

I'm not punk, but I have a nice leather jacket and 2 tasteful and elegant and big tattoos..   :icon_mrgreen:

I take motorcycling VERY seriously. I expect to keep learning more about the sport. I showed horses (jumpers) competitively years ago in my teens and 20s, if it was today I'd be into dirt bikes and jumping off ramps, and I want to keep improving my skills. I figure when you stop learning it's time to let go of the mortal plane. I can't keep up with my hubby all the time in the canyons, (partly because he's so talented and partly because I refuse to shoot around a blind corner in a canyon or anywhere at high speed because there could be gravel, boulders or a deer or a stopped car or a truck crossing the yellow coming the other way) but I'm getting better at slipping a knee down a bit in the turns, wow that makes a difference and the GS loves it! This bike has made me a lot better rider because it can do much more than my old dual sport (maybe not sailing off curbs though, that was an urban advantage). I am also working on hubby's bad habit of not paying quite enough attention when riding on his moto or his bicycle, and he's getting better.

GSnoober, you are looking a lot like a guru here on these boards lately....   8)

Sorry to stray from subject.

TEEK I used to run barrels,on a horse of course, in the local rodeos.A couple smart asses tried it on cows to be funny.

Teek

I bet you are superb in the twisties then! I would have loved to see people trying barrel racing on cows!

I did what is now called stadium jumping, and actually did a lot of it in stadiums at the bigger fairgrounds. It's the 30 years with horses that beat me up a bit, but my moto is my horse now. It's that same ineffable feeling of flying and freedom that is so intoxicating, without the $600.-$1,000 a month in my area of SoCal for a stall and hay (I need that for my own rent, it's crazy here!). Plus the moto doesn't need a trainer to take it out every day if I can't get there.   :icon_confused:  The seating position on the GS is actually pretty close to the English forward seat saddle position. I think of the cruisers as Western saddles.

I just saw pics of your bike in the tank FS thread, ees berry purty.   ;)
