leaking carb floats?

The logic to this makes sense. But I want to hear it from those people I trust more then my mechanic.

When I asked about a gas leak. He asked me if I had left it on its kickstand or center stand over the winter and honestly it was on the kickstand. To which he said that since its leaning to the side for that long of a time. That the bowl gets filled up with gas then starts to weep out gas slowly.

Does this make sense to the rest of you?

Next question and this one feels a bit odd to ask. Does a machine exist that can clean a carb with ultrasound?

I could see the weeping part being true. When the bike is on it's side stand the fuel is above the gasket line on the left side of the bowls. This is usually more of a problem with cork or paper gaskets not molded rubber ones like the GS has. However, the gaskets may not seal 100%,the bowls maybe warped or loose. There is only 2 screws holding on the bowls so in theory over tightening the screws could warp the bowls or cause the gaskets to slide out of place, allowing for leakage. It's best to store a bike on it's center stand.

Ultra sound cleaning I've heard of being used on aircraft parts.Never on motorcycle parts.Good ole Gunk carb cleaner or kerosene has always worked very well for me and cheap also.

I have taken jets to work and had them cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner. Nice and purdy.
Common sense in not very common.
