A Public appology to DavidGS and David K from john

I finally understand what happened.  It was rather innocent and totally avoidable had I paid a little attention.  In other words, your username problem(s) were 100% my fault.

What happened was, simply, when we were having php problems I got an email from David K. - ddk@onebox.com, HAD I READ HIS EMAIL MORE CLOSELY I would have understood that he was having trouble with access to his original account (DDK749s) but wanted to become davidGS with a new password.

here is the original email to me:

Hi,

I am trying to sign on to the message board to make a post, however the
name/password with which I originally registered was deemed inactive by your system.

When I attempted to register a new account, the system wouldn't do it since it has already found my email address in the database.

Please let me know if there is a way to activate my account or fix the loophole,

My mistake, ASSUMING that the php problems caused his username password to get screwed up. What he meant was he wanted to use a new name anyway (DavidGS instead of his old name) and wanted me to delete his old name or alter it to become DavidGS.  My big mistake was not catching the different email address -being in haste and not paying attention.  So I ended up "giving" DavidGS to another person.

So I wanted everyone to know that as best as I can tell both people are upright individuals, a little confusion caused a lot of headache for both people.  I hope the other person (David Khaykin) isn't plotting my death for this mixup and joins the board again, davidGS (the original) seems to be understanding and has control of his account again.

Lesson learned on my part.  I'll be much more careful in the future.

I want everyone to know that account info and PM's on this board though technically public, are safe (other then when I go and do something stupid which won't happen again).  phpBB is not easily hacked into so please feel secure that your account won't be hijacked or misused.

i want to thank the ppl who messaged me with transcipts (paul aka pkasso) that put the final nail in and solved this mystery.

I early on knew who the second user id was.. (ddk749s) just didnt know which david was emailing saying the password was interconnected. fortunately they werent interconnected.

Im sorry i took a bit of time to investigate but things are good..

I saw a post from Srinath saying he didn't realize the seller was from L.A. CA.  So I thought "Hey another local." When I first emailed DavidGS (original), I got his address from the members list.  He emailed me back stateing it was not him and someone was using his account here.

Tricked posted that money has been sent.

My first thoughts were, someone has figured out a way to hack a user name, post stuff for sale, and rip people off.  

Damn, "Where ever you leak, the world hangs a bucket."

My second thought was, "Tricked500"  I had to laugh, but I posted what I really felt.  And, that was to wait and see, this probably was a innocent mix up.

I'm so very glad it was just a glitch, and no foul play was involved.

John, it happens!  Rather than cut off you head, or fire you, or what ever.  I think we should just cut your fingers off, they seem to be the root of the problem.  You will then learn to type with your nose, forcing you to keep an EYE on what your doing.

All is well that ends well.  David K emailed me and was VERY cool about me causing him headaches.     I just wanted to be open and honest about my involvement and assure people that this won't happen again.

Pkasso - whats your paypal account #?  Florida land sounds good!
