Possible causes for dead turn signal & hi/low beam indicators?

I've had my bike since October and have dealt with this issue, but it's finally starting to get to the point where i want those indicators working.

They simply don't do anything if my turn signals are on or if my high beam is active.  Is there a set of steps I should take to troubleshoot why they aren't working?

I'm not sure if it's dead bulbs, a bad fuse, broken wire, etc.

Any help on where to start the search would be great!

It was the bulbs.  The new ones aren't as bright as the neutral and oil lights, but they'll do for now.  at least i have an indicator.

They sure were a pain in the balls to remove though  >:(

If you unfasten the tacho and speedo cables then undo the two 10mm nuts on the chrome headed bolts either side of the pilot lights you can move the whole panel a couple of inches forward. It gives you a bit more room to play with and makes replacing the bulbs a lot easier......but I guess its doesnt matter now.

yeah, that's basically what i ended up doing.  i still need the little plastic cover for the turn signal indicator.  it's been missing since i bought the bike.
