I went back and reread my 12:07 post, and I realize it sounds a little terse.  I'm not angry, I was just addressing the hypocrasy comment and clarifying my earlier post.  I wasn't trying to rub your nose in it or anything.  I'm not a violent person at all by nature, but I could see my self getting very protective in a hurry over my child, even if they are in the wrong (which I would deal with in due course).  BP is right, it means something different to you when you have your own child.  My daughter has changed my POV on many different subjects.  I wouldn't/couldn't have understood before I had her, even thought I thought I did back then.

after reading the entire posting i think i'll chime in with an opinion on the matter if that's ok. i give props to terry for admitting his fault in the matter. i'm by no means condoning the kids behaviour either. i have 3 daughters. ages 5, 2 1/2 and 5 months. the baby is, well, the baby still. the older two on the other hand can be a handful at times. other times they behave themselves quite nicely in public. if i myself had behaved as such as the child in question did, i wouldn't have been able to sit for a week. my children get the discipline they need when they need it, no matter where i'm at. i may occassionally take them to the car or outside if they're not behaving too badly just being a nuscince. i can't count how many times my wife has had to say something to me becuase someone in the store wants to glare at me or say something to me when i dicipline my children. i believe in corpral punishment. and i'll be damned if anyone is gonna tell me how to discipline my child, whether i'm in public or not. there is a difference between dicipline and beating. my kids also know that i'm always there to protect them. i'd protect my children at all cost as would any responsible parent. however, i realize they sometimes are the culprit. i not only want them to appologize when they've wronged someone, i want them to be able to tell me what they did wrong. this way you know they understand. it makes me sick when people try to say they're gonna call the cops or whatever for a parent disciplining their child. the parents today are held responsible for everything their child does. but yet so many people think we need to take it easier on them. hell, when i was younger, you weren't scared of the cops or anything like that. you didn't wanna have to go home and face the old man. so many kids today have no respect for people, property or each other. and i do believe it falls back to the parents. momma always said, "spare the rod, spoil the child."

I could definitely see having some interesting conversations.  I'm about 90% there, it just depends on a few other things.  I'm gonna try to make it for at least a few days.......it's only like 6 hours away.
