Problem replacing the blinkers

Hi all, I bought tho couples of blinkers to switch with mine (a bit too old style...), I mounted them but I had some problem fitting the front right one. What's the matter? The headlamp is fitted with two brackets and six bolts, two on the fork for aech side and one in the lamp enclosure. Below, in the @$$hole tiny space behind the enclosure, there's the adjusting leverage, made of a plate of steel soldered to the lamp and with a long hole (I don't know what's the exact word, I suppose it's clear what I'm talking about) to adjust the pitch.
This hole need to be locked in position with a bolt which stays together with the right fork. Assembling the new blinker, the thread is ~1mm longer than original so when I try to pull the adjusting bolt in the hole, it knocks against the longoled plate and don't enter. From the round hole I cannot see clearance in the longhole. This is due to the thread that is in contact with lamp enclosure. I tried to mount the lamp with the blinker just fitted but not fastened, but again, i cannot pull the lamp as back as I need to introduce the bolt.
So I'm thinkin I did something wrong.
For now, the biike is without the adjusting bolt, and the lamp seem secure and in position.

Here's some pics.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

A question:
chances are your set of blinkers is made of 2 long + 2 short ones.
Is it so?
If yes, you may need to install the longer ones at the front, and the shorter ones at the back of your bike.
Otherwise, you might need to install anyway a couple rubber grommets between the blinker and bracket.
Next time I get close to my bike I'll try and give it a look, your blinkers seem to be the exact same shape I got on my GS.

Cheers from a fellow countryman. (GOTCHA!) :icon_mrgreen:

put washers between the threaded signal and the mounting plate.

short stalk = rear
long stalk = font

you need the headlight adjustment screw, for road bumps and structural integrity.

that's the way, I mounted long at rear :D Is it safe to drive without that bolt secured? Cables from the aftermarket blinkers were too short (long and short bracket carry the same amount of wire) so I had to cut the plug and solder a piece of wire.
Next I'll ask BEFORE :D

Thanks and ciao simon79. Le frecce le ho prese a brescia nel negozio di moto nel complesso di roncadelle dove c'è il mcdonald e il decathlon se sai dov'è ;)

Ok, so what you have to do now is just a swap I suppose, front <=> rear stalks.  :icon_mrgreen:
Riding without that bolt is not "unsafe" per se, as ohgood said -

Sorry but I don't know about the shopping center you're talking about, I'm from the border zone between Alessandria and Genoa provinces. ;)

See ya soon! :icon_mrgreen:

sorry, i didn't mean 'unsafe' as far as the integrity comment goes. i meant, only two contact points will put more stress on those two small mounting bolts at the headlight. the third not only locks the alignment, but also takes one third of the strain from vibration and sudden movement. :)

the bike is 'safe' regardless of the adjustment bolt, just the light may wiggle more. :)

^^^^^^
I know what you meant buddy  That's what I exactly wanted to remark.
My bad, wrong choice of words. Language barrier, sorry  :icon_mrgreen:

I should've written:

"Riding without that bolt is not "unsafe" per se ;
as ohgood [correctly] said - ..."

Ok, I'll provide some operations to restore the third bolt ;)

Yeah, I feel your pain. :icon_confused:
IMHO, UK and Germany are our best bets to find parts. :icon_mrgreen:
I'm trying to find aftermarket case guards from MC Enterprises USA, sent them an e-mail a couple days ago but got no reply yet. Duh... :dunno_white:
