I've just completed a rejat and started it up.Choke on...when it cranked,it went to 7000 rpm and won't come down even with choke off!
What do I need to check?? It's a 93 GS...tried starting again..again 7000 rpm right off the bat. :o :o :oHELP!

idle screw? (the long screw under and between carbs) turn the screw anti-clockwise.
you MAY try that, it should help but I'm not sure if this is the correct way of handling this problem. wait for the others to chime in.

Thanks,KLM ....I installed 127.5 mains and 40 pilots.Does the idle screw work even without warm up? or engine off? I replaced the intake boots..I made sure they were seated good.I had the trottle cable off..ofcourse and thought I put the screws at the carb back in the same place..could that be where the problem is?

The choke cable works fine and the slides work back and forth. The throttle will go higher...so don't think it's stuck.Hayes doesn't say anything about throttle nut adjustment.....upon installation.Air mixture screws are at 2 1/2 turns out.

I would check the cable adjustment at the carbs. You should have a little play at the grip. When the engine has no load it doesn't take much for it to spin up to 7000 rpm.

Thank's Ben...I try that

You're welcome!  :thumb: I had it happen to me after replacing the throttle tube.

Found a gas leak at the tank switch on the bottom of the tank.Going to order a new gasket for that tommorrow.Could a leak there cause the high idle?

No

Unscrew the idle speed screw out, its located between the carbs and faces down towards the engine. Turn that out, and see if lowers or raises the idle.

Yep..Got the tank back off and unscrewed the idle screw back off until it just touches the throttle plate. Then I unscrewed the throttle cable screw all the way up.Until when you twist the handle it has about 2mm play.
I'll have to wait to test it when the gasket for the tank comes in.I hate waiting...but I've taken my time in putting it back together,so another few days is no biggy. 8)

I figure that when I do start her that I'll have to move the idle screw some what..
