Found a few different surprises today.  First, I bought the bike in October, so I barely rode at all before putting it away for the winter.  I have almost 300 miles on so far this spring, got a new rear tire, and had the dealer adjust my chain accordingly.  The bike is a 94 model, but with only 7000 miles, so I wasn't sure if it would need the chain replaced or not.  Anyway, it tightened up fine and has been flawless for the past few weeks.

Then today, I decide to throw on a 14T sprocket I got with the '95 parts bike I have.  Pulled the cover off, and in cleaning all the grime and junk that was in there, I found tons of little O-rings mixed in.  First surprise of the day...no riding until I get a new chain!  That, and used machines are full of surprises...I'm not taking a chance of blowing a chain at 80mph...

From everything I had read, 1994 and up sprockets should have the shoulder on them, but mine does not.  The stock 16T has no shoulder, and the 14T I was putting on does not fit with enough room for the clip.  Any ideas here?  I'm wondering if the switch happened in the middle of the 1994 model year or something, but it just seemed odd to me.

Holy Crap!   :o

Glad you decided to swap sprockets.  Yes, used machines can be full of surprises!
I have found some doozies on mine.    :cookoo:

The 14t has a shoulder? Just to clarify, that's why it won't fit? I can't help you with that but someone will.
However I can tell you that the 14t sprocket is a nice mod.   ;)
