Will Katana levers fit a GS?

I would love to get anodized blue levers, but also I am looking for this "C' shape that brings the lever handle in closer to the bar, I have to really stretch to cover the front brake, even though I have it set all the way in, and also the thing has a lot of play, so it's sloppy. I guess on a cheap bike that's what you get. But will these Katanas fit? They look pretty close at the head ends that would go into the mounts??  :dunno_white:  That's the shape I'm looking for anyway. Thanks for any help!  :icon_mrgreen:

Replace your clutch lever assembly with one from a nakid SV. It will have the mirror mount. Then you have a larger selection of levers.
Common sense in not very common.

Hey D, does the naked SV have the same clutch lever as the katana ?
Cool.

I believe so, at least the 1st gen 99-02.

I'm guessing no go on the Kat brake lever on the 01-02 GS.  I needed one and checked the parts fiches and Suzuki shows the same brake lever for the 02 GS and 02 SV and I bought one from Motion Pro that was listed for the 02 SV and it doesn't fit.  Maybe on earlier GS's that have a different style lever.  Another member here ordered a brake lever from the parts fiche and it didn't fit and those are $40 oem levers.  I'm still riding with a broken lever.

Gotta try the brake lever from JP's 97 GS to see if it fits before I order one.  Has same master cyl listed as 02.  There's a number of brake levers out there that fit the 89-00 GS's but nothing listed for the 01-02 that I've found except oem and they don't fit.    :dunno_white:

Ooooo the geniuses at suzuki decided to "fix" the 89-00's brake lever huh ... yea ... fix the few parts that we were happy with.
Cool.

Okay, so 1st gen nekkid SV for the clutch lever assembly, and that SV brake lever should fit my '01 GS brake lever assembly? Possibly?

Oh well, I can manage, but I'd sure like to be able to grab that brake more efficiently, even a 1/4 second can make a difference in stopping distance in an emergency. Plus my right hand gets sore, and it aggravates my carpal tunnel damage if we are out for 2-3 hours.

If SV levers would fit the BRAKE side, I can swap at least that lever and worry about finding an SV clutch assembly (so they match) at my leisure.

Thanks so much y'all, that is a big help and I appreciate it!  :thumb:
