Theres a guy not to far from me selling an 87 cbr600 on craigslist for $50. No title, and it;s a little banged up. He says it runs though. Aslo, no pictures. Does this sound like a stolen bike or are those bikes so not sought after that one would be willing to sell said bike for such a measly price? Thats no typ-o...$50.

Tang

any bike that runs is still worth atleast $1000

i'd get the vin number and check it with the DMV to make sure its not stolen

but if your buying it to part it then i say go for it

wow then im a millionaire. 50$ for a 20+ year old bike that has no paperwork..... yeah it actually sounds about right. Even if it ran I doubt he would get anything more then 300$ for it. Probably didnt register it for a few years and now dmv wants their money so the guy just wants to get rid of it.

man, you don't think all those bikes on the road are titled do you ? i've actually heard of 'dirty' group rides, where every single bike was untitled, untitle-able, and on the road every day.

sure, $50 for an untitled cbr is fine. you do realize someone is going to buy it , hot or not, and it likely was stolen 5-10 or even 20 years ago, if not twice or thrice right ?

people that steal bikes suck, and will get their deserves at some point. do what you like, you're BUYING a bike, not stealing a bike. check the dmv if you like, but i'll bet there is a lien against it still, and thats the reason there is no title.

Check and see if the same add is in other market areas. If the only way to contact is by email it is a bot posting looking for email addresses to sell to spam lists. That is often what the deal is woth the adds for $10000 two year old BMWs and the like.

Not sure how hard it would be to get it titled, that is if you want to ride it.

But for parts it's a good deal.

As long as it's not stolen and there's no lien out on it I'd say go for it.

What do you have to lose? Especially for $50.

hey did you find this ad in the d.c. region on craigslist?  i think im lookin at the same ad

Yeah I did find it on the D.C. Craigslist. Sorry though. I'm picking it up tomorrow. I talked to the guy today. Supposedly it's his neighbors son's old bike and was in their garage for a while. I don;t plan on titling it, just riding it around my neighborhood to get used to riding. As for the $20,000 proposition? If I had that kind of money I wouldnt have put up a post about buying used equiptment or a $50 bike.
