Obituary
Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long a go lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more
Than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children are in
Charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Aspirin, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student, but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.

He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know my Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I'm a Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Common sense is a single level task :icon_rolleyes: It is not nearly complicated enough to correct our societal issues but it would be a good starting point.

I am using some stereotypes as an analogy so please don't flame I understand I am over simplifying things but many may not get it if I don't.

By single level task I mean this. If a marine batallion receives an order to take that hill they begin rushing up that hill regardless of the cost in lives in an effort to accomplish that task.

Now an army battalion receiving this same order will call for reconnaisance, read the intelligence reports, call for artillery and air support to soften the target, and proceed forward in an orderly fashion mopping up as it works it's way to the top.

The marine batallion is common sense dedicated and hard working without care for the complexities of it's mission. The army batallion is forward thinking and uses intelligence that when coupled with hard work and dedication of the marines is the type of thinking we need to conquer what is wrong with society.

Viva la revelucion...

Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

seriously though. in many ways i feel society in general has it's head up it's ass. i'm mainly refering to the retarted lawsuits. kids geting expelled for kissing each other or smackin another kid on the ass. idiots who put hot beverages between their legs and then sue when they get burned. the man who breaks into your home and cuts himself on the window he broke so he sues you for his injuries. although i must admit that many places are trying to develop some sort of "castle doctrine." things like this just infuriate me. here in ohio recently a child, a kindergarten child, was suspended from school because they school felt his hair cut was inappropriate. how f%$king stupid is that? things like this are what the origianal author had in mind when writing the obit for common sense.

Ok so a hair cut is found to be offensive...

Now logically there are societal norms, and whether or not you like it I expect my son to not be subjected to those who fail to conform to those norms, I know someone right now who has let her teenage kid have his head and he was involved in a drug related robbery where the suspect killed another man just 10 minutes later. this has been an ongoing pattern for the kid for the past 3 years.

Now you might go so whats wrong with the hippy look or a mohawk, in most cases probably nothing but the sad fact is that most parents who let their kids look like dirt usually aren't doing a very good job of parenting. Not to mention if a kid walked into your childs school with kike hater, or lightning bolts or any manner of racist crap shaved into his burr you'd want the little troublemaker gone. Uniform standards of conformity and social standards of behavior are not tooo much to ask for in school. Furthermore working for a large school district you'd be amazed for everyone of these simple innocent issues you hear about there's a lot of other issues that occur which never get publicized.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

the child i was refering to had a neatly shaved mohawk. it was his choice of haircut. my wife has a friend who is a teacher in the same county. she even felt it was a dumb reason to suspend a 6yr old. furthermore, nothing in the school handbook stated anything pertaining to hair cuts. it's just asinine in my opinion to punish a child for wanting to be different from his classmates by choosing a particular haircut. from what i understand this kid was not a "trouble maker."

i remember when i was in highschool, my school wanted to ban chain wallets because some kid who went to the school used it as a weapon in a fight.........OFF SCHOOL GROUNDS! yeah, the fight didn't happen on school grounds and the school still thought it necessary to try to ban them. lucky for us students the school decided to let us vote on it to see if we felt "threatened" by chain wallets. society seems to want to crack down on some things and yet let other things slide. like for example Senator Obama would like to keep FFL dealers from opening shops within so many miles of schools, playgrounds etc yet at the same time doesn't feel pornograpy needs to be regulated in the same manner.  :cookoo: now, i'm not against either porn or guns but i just find it odd the things that people get all antsy about.
