Actually bit torrent is still pretty good.. you need a few good torrent hosts mininova.org is one, demonoid just came back online, and ofcourse thepiratebay.

I use utorrent and Azereus.. both are really good clients.

 Songbird is pretty good. It's in Beta, but quite solid... It supports IPOD and is built with Mozilla's Firefox built in. It also has a plugin that connects to a service called SkreemR that will allow you to search for and download music... It's all based on open source software, so it's totally free.

I've had nothing but bad luck with limewire and each time I put it on I end up getting a trojan or something that crashes me.  I'd pay the money and check out legal sounds.com  They charge you 25 bucks but the songs are coming out of russia and it is around 6-10 cents per song so you can get a whole cd for a little more than a buck rather than just a song from itunes.  www.legalsounds.com  Good stuff.  I'm gonna get on there too when I get 25 dollars to play with.
