Hi all,
I need to get my GS500 out of the wooden storage shed where I usually park it because the shed owner wants his shed back.
I lost my garage in my divorce three years ago, sigh.
I just bought a metal 10 foot by 10 foot shed kit at Sears and intend to build it and use it for the bike.
Another person just mentioned to me that he had problems with rust when he stored things in a metal shed in Florida.
I'm in PA. That may be a Florida humidity thing, who knows.
Anyway, the shed installation instructions say to install a plastic sheet as a vapor barrier underneath the shed to cut down on humidity, which I will do. I will put the shed on top of the vapor barrier, then on top of a wooden deck (which will get some air underneath it I imagine).
Does anyone else have experience storing a motorcycle in a metal shed?
Is this a bad idea?
Your thoughts?
Thanks,
Todd

I dont think its a bad idea at all. I work at a motorcycle dealership here in PA and our entire building is metal  :icon_mrgreen: No problems here  :thumb: I would think it best to have a concrete slab for the floor  :thumb:

Plenty of my pals use steel sheds to store their bikes with no real issues but in saying that we dont have the weather you do......maybe popping a few 1" holes in the shed walls for ventilation wouldnt be a bad thing.

The only other problem you'll run into is heat in a metal shed. You might think about putting a bike cover over it in there. Im a Pennsylvanian to and although we may be up north gets darned hot in the summer

One of my GS's is in a metal building with a wood floor. No problems till the roof leaked.Something the rain picked up off the galvanized tin ate the clear coat up on my tank.Only problem I've had.My other GS is in a wood building with a dirt floor and it has acumalated so much rust I'm stripping it and painting everything but the frame, tank, engine, and plastics.I live in SC and we have humidity problems where I'm at.
PICS are GONE never TO return.
