hi guys, newbie here. Anyway i have a new 07 build gs500. I just had the 1000km service done (no shim changed were needed).
however after picking the bike up i noticed that it seems as though it has a bit less power and that i need to twist the accelerator more to achieve accelation.

Now i checked the pilot screw and rescrewed them to 3 turns. I also noticed that the air / mixture screws were at different settings (ie 1 was facing horizantal and the other one was almost vertical). Does this mean that the air / fuel mixture is different between the 2 carbies?
Now i did try to turn the air / mixture screws, but found that i couldnt, and it seemed as though there are screwed in really tight (i used a small flat screw driver)
So is there a special tool that you have to use to turn these screws? and shouldnt both screws be facing the same way?
Also could the slight decrease in power be a result of the wrong air/fuel mixture? Also how should the exhaust smell after the bike is fully warm?

cheers from down under.

Down Under where? I'm from Byron Bay. If you're sure its not going as well as it was, I'd take it back to the shop that did the work and get them to check it, its their responsibility to get it right. Also, don't void the warranty by playing with it yourself. Those screws might be set to a certain number of turns out, and they likely didn't start with the slot in the same orientation, so don't worry about that!
I've got an '06 model, 4,000km, going great!
Cheers, David

im from sydney,
also please help me out, trying to understand these carbs.
ok the pilot screws at the bottom of the carby do what? adjust the fuel / and or air mixture?
also what do the screws at the entry to the the carby do? (thats the ones i said are really tight)

Chokstick

When I did my 1000km tune-up, I found the opposite.  The bike rode better.  Felt like it had more torque.
