hello everyone i've got an 06 500f i picked up 2 years ago for 2 grand and it only had 300 miles runs great never had any problems with it. but i am curious if theres any possible upgrade mirrors. i was curious if gsxr mirrors will possibly fit on it. im not sure. but my next upgrades are a lowering kit, exhaust, and integrated rear turning signals. any advice or information on any and all would be helpful. thanks :dunno_white:

my suggestion is visit : http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/ also known as the WIKI in these parts.

Also atop the screen you have icons, one of them is indicated as "search" this will answer alot of queastions.

once you have done so, remember to post up a picture of your bike.

I know for a fact the Katana Mirrors and aftermarket katana mirrors fit.
search for katana mirrors you will find picture of my bike.

gsxr mirrors have to be modified theres pics of a green gs500 in the member bikes part that has intergrated gsxr mirrors. I had to drill the holes out to make them fit no biggy to do and the rubber boots cover it up so yea. lowering link can be got from ebay for like 19 bucks or like 30 for billet alum. if you have an questions let PM me cause I have a 06 that I've modded int he same way you want to do yours.

well the drop kit for the bike is on order but im curious how much i can lower it before i would have to buy a shorter kickstand. ill post some pics as soon as i get my mods done. hopefully to top it all off will be a fresh coat of cherry red paint. so far though its only got about 2600 miles on it rides good never had any problems with it yet.

guitarking135

you lower it really any more than an Inch and you should chop your kickstand. I've seen to many of my buddy's bikes fall over (blown over by wind) after they lowered them because they (the dealership) didn't cut their kickstand. So if it doesn't have much lean chop your kick stand its not that hard and If you can't weld then go to a body shop they would probly charge you maybe 20 bucks I'ld imagine no more to do it. then repaint it

vulcanphlanx20mm

yea my friend has an r6 and he dropped his 2 inches and he had a problem he was lucky that when he parked it was behind the restraunt we work at and he parked it close to the wall. if it wasnt for his frame sliders that thing would have been gone. but he told me to get a replacement kickstand was like 100 bucks. so im probably gonna go with weld myself since we got a mig and tig. thanks for the advice

guitarking135

a guy i worked with had a brand new like two weeks old r6 the dealership lowered it and didnt chop the stand well long stor short wind blew  it over (stupid indiana weather) and broke his clip on off and did like $500 worth of dmage

vulcanphlanx20mm

damn that sucks well i just lowered it pretty easy. had to re adjust the chain. but other than that rides alot better feels more comfortable. my yoshi exhaust is on order and so are my integrated taillights. so soon pics will be up *crosses fingers* just as long as i dont have another computer snafu

I dont know if i can help too much.. Im looking for mirrors for my  F too.  And I just found that not all aftermarket katana mirrors work.. the mounting hardware just isnt right.. I had to ghetto rig it using some washers to even get them to fit.. and they are still completely worthless for seeing anything. Maybe some Kat mirrors work.. just not the ones i bought..

guitarking135

gsxr mirrors work you just have to slot the holes a little bit so they line up right it's not that hard to do . If Any one is needing stock mirrors for the F i have some

guitarking- I'd be intereested in those mirrors..

I have an 06 gsf and I bought 06 gsxr mirrors and they fit perfect with no mods, took 2 minutes to switch out the allen screws.
06 gs500f-Rejetted,Jardine Full Exhaust,Vortex Clip On's,Yamaha R1 tail,Vortex 41T rear sprocket,Afam 15T front sprocket,Katana Rear Wheel,Katana Rear Shock,Progressive Springs,Custom Rear Fairing,GSXR pass sets,GSXR mirrors,K&N Lunchbox,GSXR Yoshi Cams(modified),lots more custom touchs

guitarking135

They shouldn't because the gsxr mirrors the bolt bolts into the mirror base where as the gs500f mirror bolts through the base into the bracket. you should atleast have to drill out the threads

Do the '06 mirrors mount different from the '04. My '04 uses bolts, all the GSXR mirrors I see use studs? :dunno_white:
