in Ho Chi Min city (Saigon) in took less than two weeks.

Maybe communism creates learning disabilities?

too an extent. Viet Nam is still a communist state.

What it comes down to is the psychy of the people/person on whether they want to advance themselve.

Very true, but Nam's communism is a different flavor.   But at least they're no longer French.

thats the unfortunate part , is we as north americans can't manufacture for our-selves anymore  2guns give everything for china now , what happens if china shuts down , we are f*cked  flipoff

that quote is true. so i guess we better keep our traps shut about the olympics and pollution and tibet and all that fun political stuff so china doesn't get pissed off at us and returns to 2500 yrs of isolation. but hey, at least WE aren't polluting the good ol USA, let some other poor bastards destroy their environment so we can have all the glitzy plastic and cheap things to wear. sigh. I can't WAIt to go back to china!

And dude ... its still mail order. Unless bungeeco was in your town ...  ...
I dont have a problem with mail order either, but see, its not like bungee cord isn't available at all. Its only available in the boutique packaging with all the hooks and fittings on it. Not in loose length, lest people do some actual work ... gwaaaaaa ... worse ... northern tool and harbor freight are also selling the same thing. Soon we will never be able to do squat ... its gotta be done and given to us ... and then someone else has to come and fit it on for us. Soon enough we'll have people saying, I'll just stand here, and my wife can stand there, and some people will move us into position and make us have sex, then we'll be very happy.
I am also damn sick of people becoming stupid. Some dumbass thought acetone is an acid, another moron said "muriatic acid is not to be spilt into the environment" and worse, he worked at home depot ... WTF, its sold as a concrete cleaner at home depot ... you're like supposed to I dunno, environmentally isolate and then clean your driveway. People are getting stupid I tells you.
In any case, ebay hopefully will work and I'll have my bungee cord.
Cool.

Oh F^&K ... yes I can see how it can be misconstrued ... but the 2 were for 2-3 different projects.
See I have these boots, the lace up ankle highs, and they are either faaaaaaaar too tight if I tie them, or the laces keep getting unhooked from their top 3 hooks. I wanted to swap the laces for bungee cords so I can leave it permanently knotted, and it will have enough preload on the hook part to stay knotted. OK OK I could have smashed the hooks into gripping my laced better ... but lets face it ... the laces are sorta perishable, the shoe is more important.
BTW I was just on the phone with the chemist of POR 15, and I should tell you, they are morons. The simple Q I asked was was ... will the Zinc phosphate your prep thing metal ready drops on rusty steel stand heat of 400 F for 20 mins ... they were like ... duh ... why you want to do that. I said to powdercoat ... they said ... no you're supposed to coat with POR 15 ... I said, outside the tank ??? they said ... OH, you can paint the outside, I said, nope, I want to powdercoat ... they said we dunno ... duh ...
Look at the beautiful logic here ... POR 15 will stand to 650 F. The underlying coating burns by 400 or no one knows when it burns ... so why make the POR15 to stand to 650 F ... yes mission accomplished, there is no freaking way the POR15 is doing you any good. Anyway I figured out a way around the problem, just that for figuring out on my own, I dunno what they are doing. I swear, the idiots are multiplying.

Off Topic..

Buddha, you do powder coating also? I have some rims I would like to powdercoat but noting local here provides that service.

The Buddha

Seamax - I dont powdercoat myself. I have this place that does it. He's done stuff for me for years. Very very very good and very reasonable. 150-200 for a GS frame, and $75-100 for a gas tank (depends on what color and what else you doing on top of it ... like glitter in the clear coat (done it) or silver under candy blue - done plenty of that ... or 1 solid color. The thing is, he cannot adhere to a time ... he may say 1 week, and it may not have even been touched a week later ... but he is great.
Wheels, I'll have to knock the bearings out and you'd have to (or I can) put in new bearings after coating cos those get killed in powder, and the grease will melt and run and ruin everything, so we gotta get it out.
Berto - Yea home powdercoating kits are in harbour freight. They never do as well as the industrial shops, and best of all, he'll sand blast it so beautifully ... you can eat off it. Then the powder is just perfect.
Anyway, seamax you're sending me your whole bike in bits and pieces at this point. Just cheaper to move to charlotte for you.
Cool.

At this rate I should just commision you to build me a something like this. My dream project is to build something almost identical to this in the future.

The Buddha

I cant see the pic at work ... but I have a GS frankenbike I should build in the next 3-4 months.
GS frame, GR650 motor Kat FE and rear wheels, and more.
I also have a GS that I have powdercoated. Maybe I'll put pics of it ... See its sandwiched between 300 boxes and a gas dryer in my garage ... but you name it and it has it. I run the tires bald on it and I'll powder coat them too.
Its one of those things, I will not toss away things that have some life in them.
Pics ... maybe sometime in the next month.
Cool.

Hmmm....maybe by tax time next year i might have some money to throw your way. For some reason I have been craving to have a bobber to accompany my GS. A nice small old school looking bobber. Nothing fat or extreme like today's custom choppers.

The Buddha

Oh yea, done that, savage 650 with a 10 inch over FE (not raked, just longer and bigger tubes in the FE akes for a semi chop feel) drag bars with 6 inch risers, 1 seat with the rear fender hacked off 6 inches off your butt and a tombstone taillight.
Get this, the Reguator/rectifier fits neatly in the airbox ... yes inside it, and the filter too.
The thing is I may go with a single smooth bore carb and K&N filter and maybe buy a cam ... if it works good the way it is. Its mainly un changed except for the fender in the back and the FE.
Cool.

SV1000K3 Bought 03/17/09
1996 GS500E Sold 03/03/09

A sausage ... this is my second/fourth. My friend had this, broke a valve (BTW he also fried a GS motor in 6K miles so he'll kill anything) I bought it for $100 sold him a running GS for 500 and the next week he bought this back from me after I found out that it had a broken top end, had people buying parts off it ... then he bought another motor for it, had me fit it, have it nice and running, and the cam chain tensioner (a perennial weak spot) was modded on the motor and it was letting the cain run loose and hack the cases into a ditch.
Then I bought it and filled up the cases, got the CCT fixed and fit it into the frame that I powdercoated, then I find out the top triple was messed up. I therefore decide to turn it into a chopper, and then figure I can also bob it, and that is where I am.
I have had it running, but I am missing a front caliper for the KX500 FE I have. I need to make a spacer for it and I am now good to go.
Hope it looks as cool as a Jesse james chopper/bobber and runs like a savage.
My 1 and 3 bikes were absolute trouble free beauties. In fact I got #3 for a song with a broken starter gear set. Swapped it out with the one from the motor that ate the valve and it was running like a top.
Cool.

Ha ha pics of my work ... when I am through with it, it will almost not even get noticed.
The GR swap is easy enough, just some flat bar and a welder is all you need, once I got the whole thing planned. The technical issues come in when running it off the GS electrics and routing its exhaust to name a few.
BTW I also cut the Tbrace and made it unboltable, so I can do a valve adjustment with it in the frame. Heck I can get the head off and cylinders too wihtout taking the motor out ... and yet barely get my little fingernail under that T brace above the valve cover.
Cool.

the gr exhaust exits at an angle. aka pipe would run into frame rails  would a gs head fit on it?
