I took my carb out so I could send it to bob, but then he mention that b/c I have a 06 he wouldn't be able to do it and we where going to try something else, so I put the carb back in and i'm not sure what I did but now the bike won't start, it even gave a very loud back fire. Here's 2 pictures I hope you guys can see it. I just placed it back with the screw. Maybe I didn't screw it on tight enough I don't know but I would really like some help on where did I go wrong.

as tiny as the pictures are, that's definitely not a carb.

could you provide some larger pictures please ?

That would be the ignition rotor and it only goes on one way. There should be a pin on the shaft that a grove inside the rotor slides over.I have no pics.My 2 GS's are 89 and 90 models.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

dgyver

There is a 3mm dowel pin in the crank shaft that the slot in the rotor indexes to. Sounds like either the dowel pin came out amd is missing or the rotor is sitting on top of it.
Common sense in not very common.

Dang.. must be getting slow in my old age.

thanks guys! I did it so fast b/c someone was suppose to come by and see the bike today I didn't take my time I guess, after reading everyones post, sorry for listing it as a carb, "i'm still learning the motorcycle terminology on some things. someone mention a pin so I looked again and I saw it, I then notice the grove on the ignition rotor and placed it in the grove and the bike started right up! THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH! :thumb: :icon_lol:
