got a GS500E .. 2nd-hand .. well actually, more like 5th-hand.
anyways, it has no accessories under the seat.
was there a mini-emergency tool kit that came with the bike? what tools did it include?

i was thinking of putting together a few tools to carry in there .. not that there is a lot of room or anything.

Yep, they came with a shety one. They usually turned to rust sitting on the show room floor or during shipping to the dealer. You can catch them on ebay for $10 to $20 shipped. The only thing in there that's hard to find is the shock spanner for adjusting preload on the rear shock. One can be ordered but they're not cheap.$20+ is what I've found them to run.
Give this a read.

i couldn't find that thread when i searched.
i did watch a youtube video showing how to preload the shocks and the guy just used a small crowbar.... seemed to do the trick ok.

The clearance available to adjust the rear shock is minimal. I found it easiest to avoid the hassle and just use the stock tool.  8)
