The facts at Cycle Accessories West in Jacksonville where I saw my dyno and previous dyno sheets.
Daytona 675 average: 49.5 lbs/ft ( 3 seperate dynos on seperate bikes all on their showroom floor with none over 51 lbs/ft)
MY Ducati 750ss after EGA and adjustment: 56.5 lbs/ft, so what if it's not stock, it's still a 2 valve engine.

Off the line, no.  I think it would be fairly even considering I have more torque but the bike weighs more.   But again, mine is just a lowly supersport, intended as a spirited sunday ride or some such BS.  I'm not knocking you or the 675 Jay, just saying once you go Italian it's a whole new world.

But.... Mine has a racecan and The Ecu Remap upgrade , so im not sure what its putting

i will not deny that that 848 is sex on wheels , and looking at the specs , it would leave the 675 for dust

However , Truimph have made something that round a track etc is the current leader in the 600cc classes R1, CBR , GSXR
Whipped by this little pony , and u think what They are going to make in the next few years. a 1000cc 3 Cylinder? , something speical i bet

That 848 has years of trails with there Tech to work out how to make that sort of power and Torque , how many bikes have ducati made against how many Truimph have done?

All im saying is watch this space , im sure there is going to have something that puts Us on the map

Like I said, nothing against the triumph, I'd take it over an R6, CBR, Gix any day, I've just fell in love with Duc's.  Triumph needs to bring it on, the 1098s is a beast of a bike and they have nothing that even compares........won't even go into the 1098R or D16RR.

To be honest, I wouldn't buy an 848 myself.  The price is rather high and the jump to get a 1098 instead just isn't that much.  The white paint scheme on the 848 is just dead sexy IMO.

terry....that was my argument in an earlier thread bout the 848. i thought it looked sexier than the 1098. sure, the price is a bit high and for not much more you can get the 1098. but that white paint.....mmmmmm.....i think i've got a wet spot in my shorts just thinkin bout it....ahhh...to only have the experience and the money...

I think that paint job is the only thing that sells the bike over a 1098.  If they would just make a 1098 with that paint......................

i can't find the prices on ducati's website but i looked up tech specs for the 848. hmm....looks like a bit much for a beginner eh?

Ya know, I think a beginner would be safer on a Jap liter bike than an 848.  Ducati throttles are VERY finicky and snapping it closed to fast could send you flying. I really wouldn't even suggest my 750ss for a beginner, your speed is very directly controlled by the throttle.

Prices are roughly 13-14k for an 848 and 15-16 for a 1098.  CAW in Jacksonville has a 1098s still in the crate that they offered me for 15,995, I wanted to........really bad..........It was a Tricolore too.........

Test rode an RGV(T) 500 years ago and bloody hell I changed my jocks after I got off.  The speedo went up to 180km/hr as quick as a RPM guage would go up on a normal bike.  The thing red lined at 21000rpm.  Was speed restricted to 180 possibly through electric system though don't quote me on this.

Bloke wanted too much for it and lucky I did not buy it because speaking to other people who have RGV250's say that they are race bread engines and require constant tuning to keep them running well.

Servicing aside bloody hell still till this day I have never gotten to 180km/hr faster in my life.

Oh and I hear this is also the reason why they were banned from sale in Australia.

Cool, you've RIDDEN one ! I'd likely trash it if I threw a leg over. More than likely I'd just keep it clean in the garage, and take it out when it ran like shaZam!, to save my ass from getting killed.

i was wondering why the rgv as you said, " deosnt do it for you", is it the fact of most of its power is up high, and relatively little down low?

Thank god for twins (and triples), my HP and TQ curves are more like very slight inclines.

Jay: I think that even if my bike could smoke yours, I would have to let you win.  It would be rather crushing to british morale to have a baby Duc beat their flagship superbike.
That said, I've spoken to a few Triumph owners and it seems much like Ducati's, once you get one you never want a Jap bike again.  I guess Triumph engineers envied Italian spirit and soul in vehicles enough they figured out how to put some into their bikes.

BTW:  Rocket III, sounds like a f%$king Semi-Truck!!!  Hell, you derestrict it and it could probably do the job of one.
