Buddy has a 1980 GS750. Likes the tank from the 1972 GT750. Very different bikes.

Is there any way to know whether the tank from the GT will fit on the GS750?

Hmmm the 77 tank was the same for the GT750 and GS750.I'm not sure About the 80 Models though. :dunno_white: Just Have to try it out.
If it's Not Broke Modify it.
