I got home early today and decided to caress the new girl, whle I was at it I installed my turn signals I picked up at Cycle Gear. They are the standard bulbs and I was really suprised, they are actually quite bright! Also added some faux CF vinyl to the heelguards.
I think next I am going to spray the forklegs a matte black, the silver they use is totally out of whack with the rest of the paint colors, what do you think, matte black?

Can you tell I just learned how to post pics!

I'd paint the outer fork tubes the same color as your frame. That's what I did.

Bike looks nice.  :thumb:

Ah, yeah, clip ons; more info, and love what you did with the risers. That plate looks like it came from the factory. And where did you get those grommets for your turn signals?

Ok I knew this was coming!
The clip ons were on Ebay with the rear lowering links too, I have installed both and the bike sits nice and low, looks like a sport bike now and turns so much better, as I posted earlier in another thread, the bike feels very "planted" now, alot less twichy with the crosswinds now also.
Ok the guy that I bought them from said he pulled them from a older Suzuki, he did not know which model.
When I 1st installed them, yes they would have hit the tank, but I took some material off them where they were making contact with the gauge panel, then I was able to rotate them forward some more, and now they dont hit the tank and the steering lock is functional, at full lock the horn or starter button are just touching the tank, That I can live with.
The plate covering the bar mount is just a piece of lexan/plastic cut to size and covered with faux CF vinyl.
Same as the grommets for the front turn signals, just .040 lexan cut to a circle that covers the hole and covered with CF vinyl.
I live in Boynton Beach/Lake Worth and if anyone is interested that lives in the area I am thinking about trying to start a GS club, the dealership I bought it from would even consider doing a mailing to all the customers who have bought a GS over the past year, which they say is quite alot.
I just picked up some Matte Black paint from Rustoleum, gonna see if I have time to do the forks this weekend, but a girl I meet at the beach gave me her number and wants a ride, so the paint thing might have to wait!
Finally, I need some opinions, how would it look if I removed the silver GS500 decals from the rear seat area?

As far as I can tell your bars are upside down, Those are clip-ons but with riseres kinda like the 89s they go above ypu top plate not under which is why they have no downward angle. IM shure if you swap side and flip them over they will look normal. The EX500 has some like that

I would say okay, but that's all personal preference.  You aren't going to start adding GSX stickers are you? :icon_mrgreen:

2000 GS500E -- Fenderectomy, Super tidy and tiny cheapo turn signals from Ebay THAT DO LIKE TO BLOW BULBS!!! =[ ...

mojonixon

Tried them the opposite way they had way to much downward angle for my taste. I flipped them for comfort reasons.
I agree if I take the stickers off it would almost be like I was trying to hide the fact it is only a 500cc twin, which is ok by me I like the bike. Ok so the stickers will stay.

Where did you get your triple top cover from? I installed vortex clip-on's and love them, but looking to cover up the triple. I live in South Florida, downtown Ft.Lauderdale to be exact, keep me posted on the GS club.

Keep those stickers they also serve to protect your paint when you bungee stuff to the back, I can tell you my stckers are fairly beat up from bungee tying.

mojonixon

I used a bungee net once, and I will never bungee cord anything again. It rubbed some marks into the clear coat just below the stickers.  If I intend on carrying something it goes in the backpack.
And thanks for all the complements!
Chef GS the cover is just a peice of lexan plastic cut to size and covered with carbon fiber vinyl, then I used the existing handlebar bolts to attach to the lower mounts, thats it!

Ive been looking for new turn signals and those look good.. we have cycle gear shops in LA too.. do u know what those are called/ are any modifications neccesary in order for them to work?

mojonixon

Fronts are made by MoTrax and called micro arrows, 16 bucks, and the rears are 19 bucks and I think it was made by a company called chapparal or something. Just ride down to cycle gear and look at their selection, there is a ton.
The fronts needed a plastic grommet to cover the big hole that the factory turn signals used. Then, just plug them in and ride. You can make the grommet from heavy plastic, you can find it at hobby shops called lexan and Home Depot has it in the screen aisle.
