anyone hear the new 2008 Ninja 250R is now 38HP ? thats half the size engine...

I wonder how much work could be to swap a NINja 250R into the GS... be lighter...lol

28 maybe...but I don't think 38.  And torque is 16 - 18 or so...

Yeah they haven't even released a horsepower number on the '08 Ninja 250, but it has about 16 ft/lbs. of torque at 9,500 rpm. Yeah I checked one out at the dealer.

There's actually a full test in the latest CycleWorld.  I know they have horsepower listed.  I actually considered one myself, but I just don't think the suspension would have been that great for my 250lb body.  They say it's been upgraded, and is adjustable, but still everytime I see an article written up the rider has been about 100lbs lighter than me.  Plus, the new bike is in high demand.  People were paying $3800 for them at the dealership--despite the MSRP of $3499!  I was looking to spend a bit less than either one of those numbers...

I bet it's tough to find a clean example nowadays though.

OH, and to the new guy who actually started this thread?  Hope you continue to enjoy your new ride!!! Congrats!    :icon_mrgreen:

i've tried a new CBR125R ... all 13hp ... is kinda sluggish carryin' my 200lb+ frame.
i'll stick w/ my GS even if it only has less than 50hp. she's all mine! :)

My GS is treating me fairly well too!   :thumb:

For any who wanted the specifics.  I used the restroom at work today and while on the throne, I checked the specifics on the 250R--CycleWorld is our potty reading! :icon_mrgreen:  Anyway, the dyno registered 27 horsepower.
