NO SIGNALS REQUIRED in PA?!!!

Hey all,

I was at my local Harley/Buell dealer picking up some new signals for my GS (thanks for the tip, Pantablo!) and I was explaining my project to the parts fella when he interrupts me and says "you know signals aren't required in Pennsylvania anymore."  

Has anybody heard about this?  I was sceptical, but PA's new governor is bike-friendly... he's repealing the state's helmet law (which I think is crazy personally), so why not this?

It would probably make some motorcycles look more appealing to police officers in other states.  If some cop sees you changing lanes or turning without signal lights or a hand sign, he'll look at you closer...I know I don't want to attract the notice of the police  

Dunno how getting rid of safety devices such as helmets and turn signals is more bike-friendly.  It would give motorcycling a worse image if people are dying due to lack of helmet.  Maybe subsidizing MSF courses and changing some other rules...

*shrug* those brain buckets Harley riders wear doesn't protect much anyways

Until some other PA riders with some knowledge chiime in I'd suggest checking out your local highway patrol or whatever agency does the vehicle inspections. They ought to know. Maybe even your local dept of motor vehicles may have info on it.

If all else fails, or you're lazy like me, google search to see if your state's vehicle code is online. I know CA's is but not sure about PA.

This sounds so stupid.  Why would anyone want to remove existing turn signals?  Do they feel that riding a motorcycle in traffic is far too safe as it is?  Why not remoe them from cars as well.  They would look better without those amber lenses contrasting with the red ones.

While they are at it, why not get rid of headlights too?  They really screw up the natural lines of the front end of a fine motorcycle.  And brakes.  Do we REALLY need brakes?  That caliper just ruins the look of polished rims.

I just had mine inspected and working signals was required.
