Bogging when adding gas

On my '93, it starts and idles fine, but will stall when adding throttle.  It can be slowly revved up to about 3-4 grand after it gets warmer.  It has to have lots of choke.  I pulled the plugs and the left looks great, but the right one was black.   Not oily, just darker.   Looking around I noticed that I am missing an exhaust header bolt on the far right side.   Not broken off but just not there.  Could this be affecting my rev characteristics?

Did it just start doing this or has it been getting worse over time?

I'm new to GS's but not bikes or carburetors.  My GS was doing the same thing after I bought it, and I took the carburetors off and I am rebuilding them.  The jets were clogged and one of the diaphragm's was ripped.  But these are easy fixes and the carbs are very easy to work on.

And we have a great resource here for knowledge and even parts.  I'm sure the Buddha will be along and answer your question as well, but I highly doubt that the missing bolt is the source of your bog.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Yea clean it ... rejet it ... or send it to the buddha who will do both ...
Do not rebuild it, I'll "rebuild" it for an extra $10. AKA, putting all the new O rings on it.
Float bowl gasket not included, if that has to be swapped its $5 each. usually If I get an un-screwed with carb nothing but O rings are needed. The float gasket is plenty good usually.
$45 for clean and rejet + 10 for Orings. Random drilling will cost $5 extra (bolts, jets etc) - check my post on this.
Cool.

Might send it your way.  Very reasonable.  Clymer manual arrives today so that will be a help.   Just got the bike last week, knowing it needed tuning up.   Thanks for the help.
