rearset please help

I have a 2006 gs 500 and i want rearsets that want drag the ground can anybody tell me where to get them and how much they run I've emailed raask in Australia but am hoping there is somebody in the us that can help. also i"m going to the southeastern GS500 rally see you there. :dunno_white:

Woodcraft CFM makes some, around $200. These still use the stock shifter and may make it more difficult to shift with moving the pegs further away from the shifter. I modified mine to use a linkage shifter.

You can modify stock sets from other bikes. GSXR600 & CBR are couple that have been used.

Also RC51 rearsets will work.Dunno what's involved but I've seen then on a GS500E.

Cna you tell me more about the modification you did with the linkage shifter and where to get one? I would like to try this.

This requires rearsets with pegs that the shifter uses as a pivot point.

With the CFM rearsets, I bought a GSXR peg, shifter, shift rod and splined knuckle.
Below is the setup from my old race bike...

I just cut out the cover with a vertical bandsaw. Then cleaned up the cuts with a drum sander.

I do that so I can change sprockets without having to remove the cover. Plus it makes installing the chain easier. Both of these are common with gearing changes at the track.

Thanks for the info also since you set up to race i've got another question for you? I'm also going to put a 150 on the rear but leave the front the same. Will this make the back able to go all the way in the curves?and I should be able to get the shop to fit a 150 on the rear shouldn't I?

wow man nice setup.  That gives me ideas with mine to do something of that nature.  that would make for a quick highway gear change for longer drawn out trips, or quicker twisties 14t gear for around here in the hills.  Looks like you've been down a time or two by the side cover.

I assume you mean to say having a 130 back tire shouldn't stop me from leaning over as far as I want. I had a R6 and I occasionally drug the feelers. The rear tire, centerstand and the pegs are keeping me from leaning over to the point I like should I not be concerned with these things?

I have only run 110/140 at the track. The front was scuffed almost to the edge and the rear was scuffed to the edge. Never had a traction problem and still had more room to lean. The only traction problem was with a new cold tire with sand on the track... I added a few more scrapes to that stator cover, which I did replace but still useable.

The center stand and the stock pegs are the limiting clearance factors on a stock bike.

Dragging hard parts is also due to the rider sitting upright on the seat and not hanging off. Center of gravity too high.

Ok IM running a 150 on a stock GS I tend to lean off the bike and soem times I dont and getting the edge of the tire is not easy cause the tire is pinched on the rim maybe if you got a wider rim the edges will be easy but the stock rim makes it harder, Now with that said leading or hanging off feels more stable (less squirley) when riding the edges .

Dgyver I've been looking at the gear shifting assembly on bike bandit it all looks good except the peg. The peg on bike bandit is an angled type not round as in the piture on your bike. Am I missing something. Any help is appreciated.

The peg is a Woodcraft (fixed) not a Suzuki (folding). You can use either. I have the folding GSXR pegs on my 97 with my fabricated adjustable rearsets.
