2004 starter clutch and generator rotor in a 2000 engine?

The part numbers on the microfiches are different, but I'm not sure how they could've changed these parts.  Does anyone know if these are interchangeable or if I should stick to the same GS generation?  I've got a cracked magnet and the starter clutch was freewheeling last time i tried to start it (but when I pulled it apart, it worked the way it should  )

Any advice?

edit:  in case it wasn't clear, I'm trying to save money by getting a replacement rotor and starter clutch from a 2004 engine and put it in my 2000...

Thanks!  I figured if I asked at a dealer they'd try to talk me out of it and want to sell me the parts for some stupid amount of money...but it can't hurt to try

It will work
They might have improved the magnets or something. But it fits the same.

By the way: I haven't taken advantage of this, but thanks for modifying the ignition rotors for folks - you're too generous
