15T Sprocket Need Some Help...

Hey,

I am considering slapping a 15t sprocket on my bike, but I'm a little unclear on how to install it.  I know you have to remove the front sprocket cover and remove the circlip that is holding the current sprocket on, but what next?  Do you just pull it off with the chain attached and slip the new one on the shaft and on the chain at the same time?  Will I have to adjust my chain tension after installing the new sprocket?  Is it really that easy?

Yep, it's that easy. I didn't have to adjust my chain, make sure if it has a shoulder that you orient it the same way the stock one was.

      Hey Bucks did you notice much difference in fuel mileage w/the 15t?  I assume the '07 has the 17t do you know if this is correct?

i gained a few mpg (5 or so, so far) by going to a 15t front. gotta new chain and a 130/70 instead of a 130/80 too, so my take off is allot smoother now. you really only notice the difference at:

immediate take off (it's much smoother/easier, less clutch slippage)

cruising interstate (it's about 800 rpm higher at 70-80 mph)

the rest of the time it's negligible.

I think a smaller sprocket and smaller tire would reduce fuel mileage. Is it possible that the increased mpg you are seeing is primarily the result of the new chain?  :icon_confused:

You may need to get some slack in the chain (depending on how loose it was) and most likely you will need to adjust the tension with the smaller sprocket

16T is stock on all years (and 39T rear)

I've never really taken note of my fuel mileage, so I couldn't tell you. Sorry
