I have a 2006 GS500F (has the plastics). Will the motor and exhaust parts from the GS500E fit the F model? For that matter, what parts are interchangeable?

the main difference between the E and F is that the F has an oil cooler and some extra emission stuff. If you put in an E engine you might want to consider going naked to keep it cool.

What is it exactly that youre doing? maybe you can be more specific.

I'm really trying to open up my options for spare parts. Like it is practically impossible to find aftermarket parts for the '06 F model, but when you look in all the books you can find parts galore for the '06 E model. For example, I am replaceing the chain and sprockets and there are only a couple websites I've found the parts. Cycle Gear here in Columbia found the parts, but they were for the E model. I'm in good with those guys so they just ordered them to see if they'd work. I'm not going to change the engine out by any means. As I said I'm just looking to make parts hunting easier.

There is not an '06 E made for the USA, only F. The E ended in 2000 and the F started in 04, no 03 in the USA. Foreign markets have different models though.
Common sense in not very common.
