luc was a member of the NHL's Vancouver Canuks and helped bring Canada two World Junior Hockey Gold Medals.  he was killed when his gsxr750 hit a semi truck head on.  luc will be sorely missed.

Number 1 draft pick. He bought it 2 days before he died. GSXR750. Went wide on a turn and crossed the double yellow line into a truck. RIP.......

Wow...

It sucks to see these things happen. People buying Gixer 750's as their first bike ??? Here at our delaership we see it more than we like. Kids have to be "cool" so they cant start out on a "starter bike"

I feel sorry for his family and the driver of that truck.

Don't know if he had any previous riding experience.  If not, lots of things went against him...new bike, lots of power and not yet familiar with it, and apparently wet roads.

RIP to him, thoughts and prayers to his family...and to the poor guy driving the truck.  Having that happen, even though not my fault, would haunt me.

Ride it like you stole it paid cash for it.

it was very windy yesterday, so much that i had trouble controlling my bike.  i wonder if this was a contributing factor in this tragedy?

Another young kid, another fast first bike, and another rider claimed by a kink in the road.

Sad. Had his license for 2 weeks.  Read elsewhere that he was passing his girlfriend (not sure if she was on a bike), when he went headfirst into the truck. Girlfriend saw it all.......

Regards to his family and friends.

Regards to the truck driver that will now have to live with this for the rest of his life.

As sad as it is let this be a reminder about experience in riding.  A GSXR of any size is NOT the bike to buy as a starter bike or even a second bike for that matter (my opinion only).

Start small and work up the experience level.

just remember phaedrus god rest his soul lost his life on a gs ( if i am correct) due to a freak accident. essentially the same thing BUT reversed. him in his own lane and other bike coming over head on. this person may very well have been capable but then again circumstances were NOT good. aka rain wind etc. although im not sure if the wet road was doe to rain, OR emergency personnel cleaning road up from oil/fuel. BUT sky to me says wet weather

Wind and rain have never caused me to cross a double yellow, now ice is another story.

Carrying too much speed for the conditions and skill level cause center line crossings.

RIP
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

frankieG

i may have understated the wind.  i have been riding without break every season since 1969.  but that day the wind was such that crossing onto the other lane was a concern for me.  so much so i was hugging the right side of my lane and tucking in as much as i could.  i can believe that the wind may have been a factor.  however i was not there so this is just speculation.  hopefully the mounties will have enough information to find out exactly what happened.   this is important because of the high profile of the victim.  the Stanley cup finals are going to be delayed so that they may have a memorial and a minute of silence in pitsburg.

I read the article there were 50kmh which is 31mph gusts in the area and the rain occured after the wreck.

Winds like that are a regular occurence in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas

I have ridden in winds of that speed with gusts to 45 MPH and never crossed the centerline. It never mattered whether it was my little 500 honda or the gs, my big assed goldwing or a crotch rocket or any of the other bikes i have owned.

Again its real simple riding beyond ones skill level for the conditions at the time. I hate to sound harsh but this had nothing to do with the bike or the weather. Passing in a turn and inexperience were the cause of this.

FrankieG-there's nothing inappropriate about this thread. It looks like it was removed.
