P.s. Is it cool if I invite a friend? He doesn't ride a GS but I try not to hold that against him.

Not sure when we should meet. I guess it depends on how much wrenching needs to happen before the ride. Pandy?

Also, do we want to change meet up location to the Starbucks in EPA off University Ave (by Ikea, Best Buy, etc)? Or am I the only coffee whore?

SIKDMAX

When is this again? Im interested but is it like tomorrow? haha

It's a '06. Jeez. I too will be joining the caravan. I'm flexible with both the time and location.

Also, hello to everyone. Sanjay roped me into riding a while ago and I've been at it for about month now. As this will be my first group ride, feel free to give me any pointers you've got.

Hi Kortz,

You must be the friend that Sanjay was commenting on this thread:

http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=42100.0

Welcome! I look forward to meeting you on Sunday!  :thumb:

This is good recommended reading: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=38355.0

As for any additional info, I'll sit back and listen with you as the more experienced riders chime in. This will be my first time doing a group (more than two) ride, too!

Bob Broussard

Sounds like were going to have a good group for once :icon_mrgreen:

I think we might change the route to a Big Sur ride instead of Carmel valley.
It was 106  :o today where I was working and that's not even in the valley.
On top of that we've had some local fires sprouting up.
There's a large one in the King City area which might even include south Carmel Valley road.
We can still head over Laureles grade and eat breakfast at the Running Iron in the Village.
Then head west on Carmel Valley Rd to Hiway 1 and down the coast to Big Sur.

I'm definitely in for the caravan. I had to postpone my track day, so the emergency fixes have become more of a "sure would be nice to at some point.   He's ugly, but he's still my baby. ;)

After the caravan over, I'll play things by ear. Today's my first day back riding, so I'm not sure my body will accept a caravan ride, a GS ride, and then a caravan ride back.....  :cookoo:

What's the addie of the Shell station we're meeting at, and have we set a time yet? I'll read the whole thread again later tonight, but....as of now....I've got to go get ready to HIT THE ROAD again (no, no, no...not literally!  :flipoff: :icon_mrgreen:

Can't wait can't wait can't wait!  :icon_mrgreen:

Kortz - Welcome!  1st pointer, or tip: always stay in the mirror of the bike in front of you, that way he (or she) knows where you are, but back far enough (1 second) so they can see the lane next to you in case of a lane change (this way they can see if there is a car in the lane next to you; wouldn't be fair to change lanes, with a car next to you).

2nd: try to leave a stop sign at the same time the rider to your left does.  Kinda like what CHiPs do, but leaving a larger space between you ( I follow a different line, a wider arc, if you so please, and stay slightly behind the lead bike (left turns and going straight)).  Be prepared for an immediate stop on the shoulder on the opposite side of the road, this often happens if there is a lot of traffic and allows the group to re-collect on the side of the road.  You still need to watch out for traffic, for your own safety; sometimes the left rider can be...how say...a 'holeshot', and see just enough room for him and gun it.

Pandy - I hope you feel better, and good enough to ride down there, at least.

The sure-est way to meet me would be to take the Lawrence exit, turn right, and meet me at the Chevron on the right corner.

Okay, I'm going to make an executive decision here.  :icon_mrgreen:

Let's meet up at the Embarcadero Shell Gas station (1161 Embarcadero Rd,  94303) at 8am. We'll be responsible for our coffee fix beforehand.

Then we pick up Scratch off Lawrence at the Cheveron.

And then make the slow mosey down to Bob's.  :thumb:

I have a confession to make: I've been fighting a cold since Thursday and am still not feeling all that well.  I can't believe that I may miss this ride!  I was hoping that I would feel better in the morning, and still am hoping.  I do not want to miss this!

Hey Scratch, I hope you feel better! Hopefully you'll be able to make it but rest up at home if you have to. There's always the next ride!  :thumb:

pandy

Ok....Shell at 1161 Embarcadero Rd, 94303....is there a *$ nearby?  If so, I'm in for 7:30ish at *$ and THEN Shell ...then we'll swing by for scratch if he's feelin' up to it...Chevron at Lawrence...call if you're not gonna make it, scratch, and we'll bypass that stop...anyplace else???

Then off to Bob's!

Are we going to take off from Salinas to make it back at least to the tail end of the BARF bash in Redwood City? I'd really, really, really like to stop by there (ends at 5PM). Lotsa good prizes being raffled~~~~

There is a *$ nearby. Instead of exiting Embarcadero, take University toward East Palo Alto. Right on E. Bayshore. Left into the shopping center. It's next to Best Buy. 1745 E Bayshore Rd, 94303.

Friend is coming from SF so I may need to have coffee ready for him when he gets here.  That, or I can just convince him to meet us at Starbucks.  :icon_mrgreen:

sanjay

I too, am feeling pretty under the weather.  I'll wake up and see how I feel, but chances are I won't make it... next time, though.  I'll call you if I'm going to go, but assume I'm not   Kortz better still go, though, considering I helped him change his bars today.
