I know there's some stupid people out there, but this guy takes the cake for a few days ago.  My wife got home and told me about this biker that was riding some kind of 80's sport bike.  No gear, but a helmet.  So this guy comes up behind my wife, while she's driving our Mazda CX-7, pulls into my wifes lane on the right side of her car, and rides there in her blind spot.  She said that she had to move to the other side of the lane as to not hit him.  But he insisted on riding right next to her in her blind spot.  She tried speeding up, and slowing down, since she couldn't change lanes at the time, but no, he sped up and slowed down with her.  She even said that he was holding his left hand our to the side of the car as if holding back the car with a magic force field.  He rode there for a good 2 minutes, then my wife was finally about to get out of that lane, and he sped up and did the same thing to the car that was in front of them.

This guy is going to die a horrible death riding in people's blind spots like this.  I always avoid blind spots, and pass through them as quick as possible. :cookoo:

speaking of morons, i was on 85 in Atlanta this weekend running about 85 in the GF's car, when right next to the concrete divider comes some dude running 100+ wearing a helmet wife beater, and gym shorts. Any one from atlanta knows that is just crazy!

I had 2 dumb kids on bikes pass me in a no passing zone on our country road doing about 85 mph and when the second kid moved back into the lane infront of me he looked back at me  and I could nearly read the manufacture of his helmet and he was only about 2 bike lengths infront of me. I couldn't slow down because the other dumb friends following them in a VW was riding my butt and then passed me. Thiis all happened right before a real bad curve that has taken the life of several people over the years.  I thought they were trying to pull one of those insurance schemes on me!! I called my local state reps and 1st selectman about getting more cops in our neck of the woods, it takes them about 35 mins to get up here.   Be safe -- JIM :)

Wow.  I can't even think of why buddy was doing that.  Its not a typical "look-at-me-I'm-cool" move.  Maybe he didn't like the wind?

Its unfortunate, because it people like this that give bikers a bad name and hugely contribute to the cager/biker feud.  Buddy should have his license pulled and his bike impounded.

Be safe out there.

Yeah, it didn't make any since to me either.  Not even like he was trying to be cool wearing a helmet, t-shirt, boardshorts, flipflops, doing 100+ wheelies down the freeway.  He was just stupid.  Only thing I can think of, is if he rode like that, then maybe he thinks the person definitely won't miss him.  I doubt it though, and that's one dangerous way to be seen.

100+ on 85 .  .yeah thats normal at least out side the parimeter it is   Should try 285 on the west side of town.  Do 85 there and you will get either rear ended or runover.  :cookoo:

I'd say 75% of all sportbike riders wear gear down here.  And only about 10% of the cruiser guys do.

You know Idon't understand it I only feel safe wearing full leathers when most people don't and to honest I've had the thought I'am only on a gs 500 so why not go to mesh. I do ride to work without full leathers about 7 miles each way and it concerns me if somthing happens how bad a road rash and bruises if not brakes would bewithout pads and boots. To have two wheels and never crash is something to behold in my opinion. A crash is a right of passage or am I wrong.
It takes all kinds and I'm one of them

birdman

Its hot here and I've been wearing a Frank Thomas mesh jacket, gloves, helmet and boots every time I ride.
Reason, although I don't think a crash is a right of passage, stupid people are all over and at my age I heal a lot slower.

If I were out riding the twisties agressively, I would expect the occasional go-down.  But commuting to work each day and running errands, I do not plan to face the pavement or expect to.

I would estimate that same percentage of gear wearers in Albuquerque.  75% sport riders full up and about 10% of cruisers flipflops and wife beaters.

It does suck that kids riding wheelies through the intersections and chopping up traffic create a bad taste in cagers' mouths, but they get theirs.  Every one of those little twerps ends up with some nice rash and busted up bike.

Stupid is as stupid does,  that's why we have the Darwin awards.

Crash = Right of passage, ummm no

But I have crashed

Except for the msf course I have always ridden with my air 2.0 over pants.  A few weeks ago I went for a short ride to the pharmacy, about 2 blocks from my house.  I kept haveing this weird feeling, like someting wasn't right with the bike and I felt very uncomfortable.  Next day to make sure the bike was ok I geared up and went out everything felt fine.  Then it hit me,  the reason I felt weird was because I didn't have my overpants on.

it's just like a seatbelt  ! i've had it drilled into me that seatbelts save lives for over 25 years now. i literally cannot get into a car that does not have shoulder belts. on the bike, i've ridden around the parking lot while adjusting carbs without a helmet. it felt -wrong-. i rode across the street to a park (100 feet of road) to clean the bike in the shade, sans helmet. -wrong- again.
