Whose from carbirator

I have a 2004gsf. Located in between the two carbartors there is a t shaped connector. at the top of the T it connects the two carborators. Coming out of the bottom of the T it's connected to a whose. I'm trying to find out where that whose is supposed to be connected. If looking at the diagram below the whose goes from part 70 to where?

I haven't been able to tell from that diagram where the whose coming fom the t connector for the carbiraors is supposed to go?

I think it goes to the "on" nipple on the frame mounted petcock, but hey...what do I know.... :dunno_white:

The carbs have two T-fittings. One brings in fuel, the other brings in air. If you are sure to be referring to #70 in that first diagram (http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Main/2003-current), I believe that is the fuel line; the line pointed to in this diagram:

However, it may also be the air inlet (#48 in the drawing referenced in the original post).

You're not in Calirfornia by chance? Californian bikes have additional emissions equipment with its own set of hoses to the carbs.

ben2go

Yea it's a cali bike he has.Dunno if that's his locale.

It's not a califiornia bike. That whose seems to leak fuel if it's not attached to anything. But it's not alot of gas, its just a slow trickle. Any ideas?

If it's the hose in the diagram above, it must be attached at both ends or the bike will not run.  :dunno_white: That's the hose that carries fuel to the carbs.

Do you have some pictures that would show your current fuel hose routing?

skinnypac

The closest I can find without going and taking a picture is what you see as picture labled 7. It's something like this. I saw a niple on the fuel tank that it seems like it may run to it? If it's supposed to have gas running to it, it seems to make sense?

OK. It states on that same page "The hose that carries fuel to the carburetors runs from outlet 3 on the frame-mounted petcock to inlet 7 on the lower tube between the carbs."

In other words, this is the hose that delivers fuel to the carburetors. It is the same hose that I pointed to in an earlier post. If your bike is running with this hose disconnected, your fuel hoses are not routed correctly.

The nipple on the bottom of the fuel tank is connected to a drain tube. It is a simple tube that is exits near the right footpeg. The drain tube carries away water or fuel that gets spilled when you are filling the tank. The fuel tank drain tube should NOT be connected to the carbs.

I suggest two options:
1. study the fuel hose routing pages and compare them against your bike. Make certain that your fuel hoses are connected properly.
http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Main/HoseRouting
http://www.bbburma.net/FuelHoseRouting.htm

2. post pictures showing all of your fuel lines and let us help you to find out which ones are connected incorrectly.

Good luck! :)

Since this hose has been disconnected the bike has not been running. I try and turn the bike over and it's like it's not getting any gas So I'm guessing that sounds right. Okay so on my 2004 I'm guessing I need to find the equivalent of that part three? Any suggestions? This seems to be a fairly similar set up, but not exact?

Have you tried the petcock on PRI(PRIme)? That fills the carb bowls with fuel until the bike is running. Then the petcock is turn to the ON position.

REVISED
Your 04 petcock is different than the diagram beRto posted. They changed around 02.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

skinnypac

So I shouldn't be looking for the same petcock that shown on that diagram? Where is that hose running to then? I have been able to get the bike to start but it doesn't stay on unless I"m giving it throttle. Does anyone have a general idea where the hose is running to with the petcock not being in the same position.

ben2go

Would someone with a new style petcock(02+) with the plastic knob please post a pic or diagram of the hose routing? Thanks.

I looked up the parts diagram on the following website:
http://www.psndemo1.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?category=Motorcycles&make=Suzuki&year=2004&fveh=7247

You are correct that the petcock design is slightly different than the one I showed earlier. Looking at the parts fiche, it is clear which hose connects to the carbs. Based on that, you can determine where the fuel hose connects to the petcock.

The petcock will be mounted on the left hand side of the frame:

Okay so I have figured out what that whose is that's leaking gas. It was a Vent hose From Upper T-Connection. Does anyone know why it would be leaking gas? The bike doesn't want to fire up and I can't figure out why? Are the carbs flooded or sometihng along those lines?....and how to do post a picture in these posts it might make it easier?
