How hard would it be to throw one of these in a GS frame?

I would love to see a large bore two stroke single in a GS frame.  Talk about tearing up the track!  Is it do-able? Has anybody even tried?

I'm sure its possible if you throw enough brain sweat and money at it.  However, donno if its worth it. That motor might be too small and compact to fit into a GS.
Erik Mathy is in the process of shoehorning a RD350 or 500 motor into a GS frame and its giving him fits and its about the same size and configuration of a  GS motor.

he's still working on that!!!!!??????
it was a SRX600 single in the GS..Barker is installing it if i member....
for him
why install a high tech 2 smoke in a GS ...STEEL chassis....

BIG 2smoke in a RS/TZ 125 chassis.....SWEET!!!!!!....50-70HP in a sub 200 pound bike....drool!!!!!!!!

design flaws of the 500 2 smokes....
4 speed wide ratio transmission....
not designed for WFO for long periods of time!!!!!!(1 mile!!!)
exhaust pipe design will be of your design....TULDA(CR500 in home made chassis) went through 6 $1000 expansion chambers to get it right....and the builder was a rocket scientist.....astrophysisist....some thing like that

It's a 2-stroke engine. Uses lots of fuel and oil, unreliable, must be rebuild much more often than 4 stroke bikes (some types every 10K miles), very peaky and small powerband and sparkplugs will foul if you use low revs for a long time (like in city riding).

I hate 2 strokes. They are polluting and make an ugly noise. The only + is that they make a lot of power for their size and are lighter than a 4 stroke engine.

2 strokes make excellent race motors, but that's about it. They do not have the longevity of a four-stroke. Four-strokes just plain last longer.

Another thing you have to worry about, if you go to a more powerful motor, is tourqing the frame. The frame may not be able to handle the additional power and you may end up bending that swingarm up under your arse. Or twisting the frame, if the swingarm can handle the power.

You're just plain better off buying a TZ250.

Now an SRX600 motor in a FZR400 frame, ooohhh!
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

A good street motor it probably is not... but if you install it right...give yourself adequate clearance for yanking off the head etc...you can rebuild it every 10K with just about the effort of 2-3 valve adjustments...and probably just a bit more expense...I know of people that have stuffed a motor like this into a RS250 (I think 2 cyl).
Cool.

my RS125 (GP bike) requires rings every 300 miles
piston/ring every 600
crank rebuild every 1200

with how frequent i ride it at the track...
1-2 pistons a year
rebuild engine every 1.5 yr....
not bad, but parts are starting to get difficult to source
bike is a 12 year old race bike and honda doesn't want to make parts for it any more....
i still have enuff parts for another 2-3 yrs of riding :)
